Washington calls on Algeria to respect the right to demonstrate
The United States on Tuesday called on Algeria to respect the right to demonstrate, while thousands of Algerians have been protesting for several days against President Abdelaziz Bouteflika's candidacy for a fifth term.
"We are watching these demonstrations in Algeria and we will continue to do so," State Department spokesman Robert Paladino told reporters. "The United States supports the Algerian people and their right to peaceful demonstration."

واشنطن تدعو الجزائر لاحترام حق التظاهر
دعت الولايات المتحدة الثلاثاء الجزائر إلى احترام حق التظاهر، في الوقت الذي يتظاهر فيه آلاف الجزائريين منذ أيام عديدة ضد ترشح الرئيس عبد العزيز بوتفليقة لولاية خامسة.
وقال المتحدث باسم الخارجية الأميركية روبرت بالادينو للصحافيين "نحن نراقب هذه التظاهرات في الجزائر وسنواصل فعل ذلك"، مشددا على أن "الولايات المتحدة تدعم الشعب الجزائري وحقه في التظاهر السلمي".
