For the second time, the Osman Mirghani family is concerned about the continued detention

The family of the editor-in-chief of the mainstream newspaper Osman Mirghani, detained two weeks ago, expressed concern over his fate after the authorities refused to allow him to visit him or to know the circumstances of his detention.
The security apparatus has been detained since February 22 from the newspaper's headquarters, amid a silence from the Sudanese Journalists Union and the Press and Publications Council.
"Jihad," the son of the editor of "mainstream" in a press circular on Thursday, said that the family is in a state of anxiety not to inform them of the health situation of Osman Mirghani and the conditions of his detention.
The family asked her to be reassured that his health, which is still rejected by the security authorities after two weeks.
The family called on local, regional and international human rights organizations to intervene with the authorities to immediately and unconditionally release him as a prisoner of conscience who exercised his right to expression only.

أعربت أسرة رئيس تحرير صحيفة “التيار” عثمان ميرغني المعتقل منذ اسبوعين، عن قلقها أزاء مصيره المجهول بعد رفض السلطات السماح لهم بزيارته، أو معرفة ظروف احتجازه.
واعتقل جهاز الأمن ميرغني منذ 22 فبراير الماضي من مقر الصحيفة، وسط صمت من اتحاد الصحفيين السودانيين ومجلس الصحافة والمطبوعات.
وقال “جهاد” نجل رئيس تحرير “التيار” في تعميم صحفي اليوم الخميس، إن الأسرة تعيش حالة من القلق لعدم إطلاعها على الوضع الصحي لعثمان ميرغني وظروف اعتقاله.
وطلبت الأسرة السماح لها بالاطمئنان على صحته وهو الطلب الذي ما تزال ترفضه السلطات الأمنية بعد مضي أسبوعين.
ودعت الأسرة المنظمات الحقوقية المحلية والإقليمية والدولية للتدخل لدى السلطات لإطلاق سراحه فوراً دون قيد أو شرط باعتباره معتقل رأي مارس حقه في التعبير فقط.
