وستبدأ فعاليات الزيارة بالاستقبال في مطار أبوظبي، ثم حفل الترحيب الرسمي في قصر الرئاسة يعقبه لقاء بين صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن زايد آل نهيان وقداسة البابا فرنسيس.
وكان الفاتيكان قد أعلن في ديسمبر الماضي عن زيارة مرتقبة للبابا إلى أبوظبي للمشاركة في الحوار العالمي بين الأديان، موضحا أن البابا يلبي بذلك دعوة من ولي عهد أبوظبي.

أعرب بابا الفاتيكان فرانسيس عن قلقه العميق إزاء الحالة المأساوية التي يعاني منها المدنيون في اليمن، داعيا إلى إنهاء الأزمة الإنسانية في هذا البلد.
وقال البابا فرانسيس، اليوم أثناء خطبة تقليدية يلقيها كل يوم الأحد أمام المؤمنين المجتمعين في ساحة القديس بطرس في الفاتيكان: "الصراع الطويل أوصل الشعب اليمني إلى مرحلة غاية في المعانات، إذ يعاني الكثير من الأطفال من الجوع، لكن هؤلاء يعجزون عن الوصول إلى مستودعات الأغذية".
وأضاف: "صراخ هؤلاء الأطفال وآباؤهم يرتفع إلى الرب"، داعيا جميع المؤمنين للصلاة من أجل الإخوة اليمنيين.
وحث بابا الفاتيكان أطراف الأزمة اليمنية والمجتمع الدولي على ضمان تنفيذ الاتفاقيات التي تم التوصل إليها سابقا وتوزيع الغذاء بين سكان اليمن، على وجه السرعة.
كما تطرق البابا فرنسيس إلى موضوع زيارته للإمارات، وقال إن رحلته ستكون "قصيرة لكنها مهمة".
وتعد الإمارات طرفا أساسيا في التحالف العربي بقيادة السعودية الذي يخوض حربا في اليمن ضد جماعة "أنصار الله" الحوثية.
وقد وصف خبراء منظمة الأغذية والزراعة التابعة للأمم المتحدة (الفاو) في تقرير نشر في يناير الماضي، الوضع في اليمن بأنه "أسوأ كارثة ناجمة عن النشاط البشري في التاريخ المعاصر"، وأشاروا إلى أن قرابة 16 مليون يمني، أي أكثر من نصف سكان البلاد، بحاجة ماسة إلى المساعدات الغذائية.
وأكد التقرير الأممي أن أطراف المتنازعة في اليمن تتجاهل الوضع الدولي الذي تتمتع به المؤسسات الإنسانية وكوادرها، ما يجعل العمل الرامي إلى منع توسيع نطاق الجوع مهمة بالغة الصعوبة والخطورة.

انطلقت في العاصمة الإماراتية أبوظبي اليوم الأحد، أعمال المؤتمر العالمي للأخوة الإنسانية، الذي ينظمه "مجلس حكماء المسلمين"، بمشاركة قيادات دينية وشخصيات فكرية وإعلامية عالمية.
ويرعى المؤتمر ولي عهد أبو ظبي محمد بن زايد آل نهيان، ويشارك فيه شخصيات دينية أهمها البابا فرنسيس، بابا الفاتيكان والدكتور أحمد الطيب، شيخ الأزهر الشريف.
وقال وزير التسامح الإماراتي نهيان بن مبارك آل نهيان في الافتتاح: "المؤتمر هو حدث متعدد الثقافات يشجع على التآخي والحوار، وهو حدث استثنائي وتاريخي لنبرهن للعالم على ما يمكن لقوة التسامح والتآخي أن تحققه".
وأشار الوزير إلى أن "الإمارات تركز على أن تكون التجربة التعليمية لديها تقود لفهم صحيح للتسامح والاختلاف بين البشر، ونعيش في وطن يحظى ببيئة ثقافية مرموقة وله تاريخ عريق في إرساء قيم التسامح".
وتابع: "مسؤوليتنا جميعا أن نعمل معا من أجل تعزيز قيم التسامح والأخوة الإنسانية، والإمارات تمثل جسرا لتواصل الثقافات وتلاقي الحضارات ونعتز بدورنا الرائد في نشر مبادئ التعايش والسلام والتآخي".
