Saudi forces arrive in Sudan to participate in a joint naval exercise
The Saudi naval forces participating in the Saudi Arabian joint naval exercise Al-Falak 3 have arrived in the eastern port city of Port Sudan, Sudanese media reported Saturday evening.
The Kingdom's embassy in Sudan said the drill commander, Colonel Rashid bin Rashid al-Harbi, was received by the Saudi forces.
The exercise is scheduled to begin on Sunday at the Port Sudan naval base, with the participation of marine marines, private maritime security units and elite naval instructors and trainers.

Saudi Arabian naval forces arrived in the port city of Port Sudan on Saturday evening in eastern Sudan.
According to the Saudi embassy in Sudan, "the Saudi naval forces participating in the Saudi Arabian joint maritime exercise" Al-Falak 3 "arrived in the port city of Port Sudan in the east of the country," confirming that the drill commander Colonel Rashid bin Rashid Al-Harbi was received by Saudi forces.

The exercise will take place on Sunday at the Port Sudan naval base with the participation of marines, special naval security units and elite naval instructors and trainers.
Omar al-Bashir announced the imposition of a one-year state of emergency in the country, the dissolution of the national reconciliation government, as well as state governments, and the formation of a government capable of taking difficult economic measures. Bashir pledged to conduct "transparent investigations into the deaths of protesters."
On Saturday, the Sudanese president decided to appoint Defense Minister Awad Mohammed bin Auf as first vice president and Mohamed Taher Ela as prime minister, according to a presidential statement. Bashir kept defense ministers Awad Awad bin Auf, Foreign Minister Dardiri Mohammed Ahmed and Justice Mohamed Ahmed Salem.
Protests erupted in Sudan on December 19 in the Nile state due to lack of bread, and some 30 people were killed and dozens injured, according to government reports.
Police used tear gas and occasionally used live ammunition to disperse demonstrations. Human rights activists say at least 45 people have been killed and the government estimates the death toll at 30, including two security personnel. Political activists, members of civil society and journalists were arrested.
Sudan is experiencing increasing economic difficulties with the inflation rate approaching 70% and the decline of the Sudanese pound against the US dollar and other foreign currencies.

وصول قوات سعودية إلى السودان للمشاركة في تمرين بحري مشترك
أفادت وسائل إعلام سودانية، مساء السبت، بأن القوات البحرية السعودية المشاركة في التمرين البحري السوداني السعودي المشترك "الفلك 3" وصلت إلى مدينة بورتسودان الساحلية شرقي البلاد.
وأفادت ‏سفارة المملكة لدى السودان بأن قائد التمرين العقيد البحري الركن رشيد بن راشد الحربي كان في استقبال القوات السعودية.
ومن المقرر انطلاق فعاليات التمرين يوم الأحد بقاعدة بورتسودان البحرية بمشاركة مشاة البحرية ووحدات الأمن البحرية الخاصة ونخبة من معلمي ومدربي القوات البحرية.

تزامنا مع الأحداث الأخيرة... قوات سعودية تصل السودان 
وصلت قوات بحرية سعودية، مساء أمس السبت، إلى مدينة بورتسودان الساحلية شرقي السودان.
وأفادت ‏سفارة المملكة لدى السودان، بأن "القوات البحرية السعودية المشاركة في التمرين البحري السوداني السعودي المشترك "الفلك 3" وصلت إلى مدينة بورتسودان الساحلية شرقي البلاد"، مؤكدة أن قائد التمرين العقيد البحري الركن رشيد بن راشد الحربي كان في استقبال القوات السعودية.

ومن المقرر، انطلاق فعاليات التمرين اليوم الأحد، بقاعدة بورتسودان البحرية بمشاركة مشاة البحرية ووحدات الأمن البحرية الخاصة ونخبة من معلمي ومدربي القوات البحرية.
يأتي ذلك، تزامنا مع الأحداث التي تشهدها السودان، فقد أعلن عمر البشير، مساء الجمعه الماضي، فرض حالة الطوارئ لمدة عام واحد في البلاد، وحل حكومة الوفاق الوطني، وكذلك حكومات الولايات، وتشكيل حكومة كفاءات لاتخاذ تدابير اقتصادية صعبة. وتعهد البشير بإجراء "تحقيقات شفافة حول القتلى الذين سقطوا خلال الاحتجاجات".
وقرر الرئيس السوداني، أمس السبت، تعيين وزير الدفاع عوض محمد بن عوف نائبا أول لرئيس الجمهورية، و محمد طاهر إيلا رئيسا لمجلس الوزراء، حسب بيان للرئاسة. وأبقى البشير على وزراء الدفاع الفريق أول عوض بن عوف، والخارجية الدرديري محمد أحمد، والعدل محمد أحمد سالم.
واندلعت الاحتجاجات بالسودان في 19 ديسمبر/كانون الأول، في ولاية نهر النيل بسبب نقص الخبز، وقد سقط نحو ثلاثين قتيلا وعشرات الجرحى، وفقا لتقارير حكومية جراء تلك الاحتجاجات.
واستخدمت الشرطة الغاز المسيل للدموع ومن حين لآخر استعملت الذخيرة الحية لتفريق المظاهرات. ويقول نشطاء في مجال حقوق الإنسان إن ما لا يقل عن 45 قتلوا بينما تقدر الحكومة عدد القتلى بثلاثين بينهم اثنان من أفراد الأمن. واعتقل نشطاء سياسيون وأفراد من المجتمع المدني وصحفيون.
ويشهد السودان صعوبات اقتصادية متزايدة مع بلوغ نسبة التضخم نحو 70% وتراجع سعر الجنيه السوداني مقابل الدولار الأمريكي وسائر العملات الأجنبية.
