Saudi Arabia objected to the final statement of the Arab-European summit held in Sharm el-Sheikh after the European side rejected amendments to the statement proposed by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Lebanon.

"We received proposals from Bahrain, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon, and we consulted with the European side, which preferred to keep the final statement on its first version," said Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
Aboul Gheit said that "the League (Arab) and the European Union saw that the statement remains as the minimum agreement between the parties, and we will ensure the distribution of these proposals to the States at a later date."
The two-day Arab-European summit, which was the first of its kind, took place on Sunday in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, amidst a heavy presence of representatives from European and Arab countries, totaling about 50 delegations from both sides.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said the next summit between the two sides would be held in Brussels in 2022.

السعودية و3 دول عربية تعترض على البيان الختامي لقمة شرم الشيخ
اعترضت السعودية على البيان الختامي للقمة العربية الأوروبية التي انعقدت في شرم الشيخ، بعدما رفض الطرف الأوروبي تعديلات على البيان اقترحتها السعودية والإمارات والبحرين ولبنان.
وعقب انتهاء الرئيس المصري من كلمته، تم عرض البيان الختامي على الشاشة، وفتح الباب أمام التعليقات حول البيان، حيث قال ممثل الوفد السعودي إن "الوفد قدم تعديلات على البيان الختامي لم يتم وضعها في البيان الموزع على الأطراف في الجلسة الختامية للقمة العربية الأوروبية، ونأمل أن تؤخذ هذه النقاط في الاعتبار، وهذه التعديلات خاصة بالتعاون بين الطرفين العربي والأوروبي".
وقال الأمين العام للجامعة العربية، أحمد أبو الغيط: "تلقينا من البحرين والإمارات والسعودية ولبنان تعديلات مقترحة، وتشاورنا مع الطرف الأوروبي الذي فضل بقاء البيان الختامي على صيغته الأولى".
وأوضح أبو الغيط أن "الجامعة (العربية) والاتحاد الأوروبي رأوا أن يظل البيان على حالته باعتباره الحد الأدنى من الاتفاقات بين الطرفين، وسنحرص على توزيع هذه المقترحات على الدول في وقت لاحق".
وانطلقت، أمس الأحد، في مدينة شرم الشيخ، المصرية، القمة العربية الأوروبية التي استمرت ليومين، حيث تعد الأولى من نوعها، وذلك وسط حضور كثيف من ممثلي الدول الأوروبية والعربية، يصل بمجمله لحوالي 50 وفدا من الطرفين.
وأعلن الرئيس المصري عبد الفتاح السيسي أن القمة القادمة بين الطرفين ستعقد في بروكسل عام 2022.
