Russia: US plans to arm opposition in Venezuela
Russia considered US aid an excuse to oust President Maduro by force
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Moscow on Tuesday accused Washington and its NATO allies of considering arming the opposition in Venezuela and said Washington was deploying special forces and equipment near the South American country.
Moscow has indicated unspecified information to support its assertions about plans to arm the opposition but did not mention or provide such information.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said yesterday that the United States is deploying special forces and equipment near Venezuela, adding in remarks published by the Russian Foreign Ministry through its official account on Twitter, that the US humanitarian aid it wants to enter Venezuela fuels differences, Nicolas Maduro by force. He pointed out that the United States and NATO are discussing how to arm the Venezuelan opposition.
Maduro refuses to allow food, medicine and other supplies, while opposition leader Juan Guido, who has declared himself acting president, pledged hundreds of tons of aid.
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Guido's plans to introduce cross-border assistance aimed at drawing up clashes would be "an appropriate pretext for military action."
Moscow is the biggest supporter of the Maduro government, and has repeatedly accused Washington of seeking a coup in Venezuela.
Guido left Caracas on Sunday for the Colombian border to personally try to hand over US aid to the border with Colombia, which he promised to enter.
Guido signed his first decree on his Twitter page: "As Commander-in-Chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, I confirm my entry into the territory of Venezuela. Therefore, I order in this capacity all the elements of the various forces to act in accordance with these instructions ».
In this atmosphere, Maduro announced that he was considering closing the border with Colombia after he announced the closure of the land border entirely with Brazil
In statements broadcast on television, Maduro described the storage of aid to Venezuela in Colombia's border town of Cucuta as "provocation."
Meanwhile, media sources said that one dead and 12 others were wounded by the Venezuelan army on the border with Brazil.

Maduro has criticized the attempt to send Washington aid to his country, accusing the United States of seeking to bring his country into chaos.

اعتبرت روسيا المساعدات الأمريكية ذريعة لإزاحة  الرئيس مادورو بالقوة
اتهمت موسكو أمس واشنطن وحلفاءها في حلف شمال الأطلسي «ناتو» ببحث تسليح المعارضة في فنزويلا وقالت إن واشنطن تنشر قوات خاصة ومعدات بالقرب من البلد الواقع في أمريكا الجنوبية.
وأشارت موسكو لمعلومات غير محددة لدعم تأكيداتها بشأن خطط تسليح المعارضة لكنها لم تذكر هذه المعلومات أو تقدمها.
وذكر وزير الخارجية الروسي سيرغي لافروف، أمس، أن الولايات المتحدة تنشر قوات خاصة ومعدات بالقرب من فنزويلا، مضيفاً في تصريحات نشرتها الخارجية الروسية عبر حسابها الرسمي على موقع «تويتر»، أن المساعدات الإنسانية الأمريكية التي تريد إدخالها فنزويلا تؤجج الخلافات، وتُعتبر مقدمة لإزاحة الرئيس نيكولاس مادورو عن الرئاسة بالقوة. وأشار إلى أن الولايات المتحدة و«ناتو» يناقشان كيفية تسليح المعارضة الفنزويلية.
ويرفض مادورو السماح بدخول شحنات الغذاء والدواء وغيرها من الإمدادات، فيما تعهد خوان غوايدو زعيم المعارضة الذي أعلن نفسه رئيساً بالإنابة للبلاد، بإدخال مئات الأطنان من المساعدات.
بدورها، اعتبرت الناطقة باسم الخارجية الروسية ماريا زاخاروفا أن خطط غوايدو لإدخال المساعدات عبر الحدود هدفها استدراج اشتباكات ستشكل «ذريعة مناسبة لشن عمل عسكري».
وموسكو أكبر داعم لحكومة مادورو، وقد اتّهمت مراراً واشنطن بالسعي لإحداث انقلاب في فنزويلا.
وغادر غوايدو كراكاس أول من أمس، متجهاً إلى الحدود الكولومبية ليحاول شخصياً تسلّم المساعدات الأمريكية المكدّسة عن الحدود مع كولومبيا، والتي وعد بإدخالها.
ووقع غوايدو أول مرسوم له نشره على صفحته في «تويتر» قائلاً: «بصفتي القائد الأعلى للقوات المسلحة الوطنية البوليفارية، أؤكد سماحي بدخول المساعدات الإنسانية إلى أراضي فنزويلا. وبالتالي، آمر بصفتي هذه جميع عناصر القوات المختلفة بالتصرف وفقاً لهذه التعليمات».
في هذه الأجواء، أعلن مادورو أنه يبحث إغلاق الحدود مع كولومبيا بعد أن أعلن إغلاق الحدود البرية بالكامل مع البرازيل
وفي تصريحات بثها التلفزيون، وصف مادورو تخزين المساعدات لفنزويلا في بلدة كوكوتا الحدودية في كولومبيا بأنه «استفزاز».
