Mohammed bin Zayed, nicknamed MBZ in Washington and in the Israeli army, is one of the most influential figures in our region. Unfortunately, this is not the focus of most Israelis. Unlike Sisi, Abu Mazen, and King Abdullah, the Crown Prince of the United Arab Emirates is not a leader who seeks to maintain the status quo, but is responsible for making changes.
The United Arab Emirates is a small country with a large economy, yet the influence of Ben Zayed extends beyond Abu Dhabi or Dubai. He made the oil-rich Emirates in the Arabian Desert a new Arab model: religious moderation, opposition to extremism, active foreign policy, and, most importantly, money and business interests. The fact that he works as the elder brother and mentor of the Saudi Crown Prince, Muhammad bin Salman, increases his status, and his influence. Bin Zayed is hostile to the Iranian approach, the war (the intractable and the failed), in Yemen and the cold and failed war with Qatar. As for relations with Israel and US Jews, the Saudis are on the path dictated by Ben Ziyad, who has a steady relationship with many Israelis.
Mohammed bin Zayed's power is back to his stupidity, his ability to activate people, and most importantly he knows how to make good money making money. But even more, Energy Crown Prince, 58, is based on a decisive view. He is opposed to Iran, the Muslim Brotherhood, and radical Islamic movements. On the other hand, tolerance favors inter-religious dialogue, especially as it supports the creation of alternative sources of income for oil. Bin Zayed believes that East-West relations and the image of moderate, understanding and tolerant Islam are not only a religious view but a commercial model.
Abu Dhabi is a global business center, home to immigrants and foreign workers from 200 countries, including many Christians. It is more like New York in the Arabian Peninsula. This week, Ben Zayed hosted the Pope, who received a brilliant reception, which included remarkable media coverage in the West, and the promotion of Ben Zayed's status as the Emir of Tolerance. In our region where the minority is being persecuted, and there are not many Christians left, it is worth noting that the gathering of dozens of people at a large public gathering presided over by the Pope in an Islamic country is admirable.
The United Arab Emirates in the era of Ben Zayed is not only an exceptional site of prosperity and diversity, but a laboratory in which objectives and processes are examined. It is perhaps the only site in the Middle East, with the exception of Israel, where people choose to emigrate from the West. There are jobs, old brands that can not be counted, and the Louvre and Guggenheim Museum in Abu Dhabi.
Relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates were warmer in the 1990s, but in recent years they have developed and strengthened without taking into account the Palestinian cause, based on commercial interests and the common Iranian enemy. Relations with Trump and the common factor in Washington have formed additional support for strengthening relations.
A great American Jew, who has had ties with Mohammed bin Zayed for years, describes Ben Zayed as not afraid of confrontation, seeking victory and respecting successes. Hence, the purpose of the relations between Israel and Israel, and in contrast to the reservation of the Palestinian cause, which is a source of burden for the Arabs.

محمد بن زايد الملقب MBZ في واشنطن وفي الجيش الإسرائيلي هو إحدى الشخصيات الأكثر تأثيرا في منطقتنا، لهذا من المؤسف أنه لا يحظى باهتمام معظم الإسرائيليين. خلافا للسيسي، أبو مازن، والملك عبد الله، فإن ولي عرش الإمارات العربية المتحدة لا يعتبر زعيما يسعى إلى الحفاظ على الوضع الراهن، بل يعتبر مسؤولا يعمل على إحداث تغييرات.
الإمارات العربية المتحدة هي دولة صغيرة ذات اقتصاد كبير، رغم هذا فإن تأثير بن زايد يتعدى حدود أبو ظبي أو دبي. فقد جعل من الإمارات الغنية بالنفط في الصحراء العربية نموذجا عربيا جديدا يتضمن: اعتدالا دينيا، معارضة التطرف، سياسة خارجية نشطة وجريئة، والأهم أنه يتضمن الأموال والمصالح التجارية. حقيقة أنه يعمل كالأخ الأكبر والمرشد لولي العهد السعودي، محمد بن سلمان، تزيد من مكانته، وتأثيره. يعتبر بن زايد معاديا للتوجه الإيراني، الحرب (الضروس والفاشلة)، في اليمن والحرب (الباردة والفاشلة أيضا) مع قطر. فيما يتعلق بالعلاقات مع إسرائيل ويهود الولايات المتحدة، يسير السعوديون في الطريق التي يمليها بن زياد، الذي لديه علاقات متواصلة مع إسرائيليين كثيرين.

الإمارات العربية المتحدة في عصر بن زايد ليست موقعا استثنائيا من الازدهار والتنوع فحسب، بل هي أشبه بمختبر تُفحص فيه الأهداف والعمليات. ربما هي الموقع الوحيد في الشرق الأوسط، فيما عدا إسرائيل، الذي يختار الأشخاص الهجرة إليه من دول الغرب أيضا. ففيها فرص عمل، ماركات عريقة لا يمكن إحصاؤها، ومتحف اللوفر وجوجنهايم في أبوظبي.
شهدت العلاقات بين إسرائيل والإمارات العربية المتحدة دفئا في التسعينات، ولكن في السنوات الأخيرة تطورت وتعززت جدا دون الأخذ بعين الاعتبار القضية الفلسطينية، وذلك استنادا إلى المصالح التجارية والعدو الإيراني المشترك. شكلت العلاقات مع ترامب والعامل المشترك في واشنطن سبب دعم إضافيا لتعزيز العلاقات.
يصف يهودي أمريكي كبير، كانت لديه علاقات مع محمد بن زايد طوال سنوات، بن زايد بصفته لا يخشى المواجهات، يسعى إلى الفوز، ويحترم النجاحات. من هنا، تأتي العلاقات الهادفة بينه وبين إسرائيل، وبالمقابل التحفظ من القضية الفلسطينية التي تعتبر مصدر عبء لدى العرب.
