Forces 'pursue ... terrorist elements in the area' after seven militants killed in clashes
Seven militants were killed and 15 Egyptian military personnel were killed or wounded in a clash in North Sinai on Saturday, the Egyptian military said. 
The breakdown of military casualties was not immediately clear. However, two security sources told Reuters that the some of the injuries were serious. 
The Egyptian military spokesman said several gunmen stormed an army position. During ensuing exchange of fire, 14 soldiers and an officer were hit.

"Combing operations and the pursuit and elimination of the terrorist elements in the area where the incident took place is ongoing," the military spokesman said in a statement. 
The security sources said operations were taking place under aerial cover. 
Security forces launched a campaign a year ago against Islamist militants focused on Egypt's Sinai peninsula, and say they have killed several hundred militants since then. 
Since 2013, Egyptian security forces have battled Islamist militants, who have repeatedly targeted security checkpoints and Egypt's Christian minority.

قال الجيش المصري إن سبعة متشددين قتلوا وأصيب 15 من أفراد الجيش المصري في اشتباك بشمال سيناء يوم السبت.
ولم يتضح على الفور توزيع الخسائر في صفوف الجيش. ومع ذلك ، قال مصدران أمنيان لرويترز إن بعض الإصابات كانت خطيرة.
وقال المتحدث العسكري المصري ان عدة مسلحين اقتحموا موقعا للجيش. وخلال تبادل إطلاق النار الذي أعقب ذلك ، أصيب 14 جنديا وضابطا.

وقال المتحدث العسكري في بيان "عمليات القتال والسعي الى القضاء على العناصر الارهابية في المنطقة التي وقع فيها الحادث مستمرة."
وقالت المصادر الأمنية إن العمليات تجري تحت غطاء جوي.
وشنت قوات الامن حملة منذ عام ضد متشددين اسلاميين يركزون على شبه جزيرة سيناء في مصر ويقولون انهم قتلوا عدة مئات من المسلحين منذ ذلك الحين.
منذ عام 2013 ، قاتلت قوات الأمن المصرية المسلحين الإسلاميين ، الذين استهدفوا نقاط التفتيش الأمنية والأقلية المسيحية في مصر بشكل متكرر.
