Netanyahu in Chad: We are making history
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Chadian President Idriss Deby signed a memorandum of understanding for the resumption of diplomatic relations between their two countries after N'Djamena made it in 1972
In a statement published on Twitter, Netanyahu described his visit to Chad as "historic," adding that he and Chadian President considered the resumption of diplomatic relations between their countries "a key to future cooperation benefiting the two countries."
The Israeli prime minister said the aim of the move was to improve relations with the Muslim world, adding that he expected more such diplomatic achievements soon
"Israel is entering the Islamic world, this is the result of the intensive work we have done over recent years, we are making history and turning Israel into a rising world power," he said via Twitter
"I told Chadian President Deby:" For us, there is special significance in the fact that Chad is a Muslim-majority country that seeks to establish bonds of friendship with Israel, and there are many of these countries, I believe in the future of friendship that brings us together
Netanyahu noted that the Chadian presidency welcomed him "with all due respect and respect, as we have received with respect for President Deby in Israel
His one-day visit follows a visit by the Chadian president in November to Israel
The pressure exerted by Islamic countries in Africa because of the Arab-Israeli wars resulted in the decision of a number of African countries to sever relations with Israel, including Chad
But in recent years, Israel has indicated possibilities for cooperation in the areas of security, technology, agriculture and others in order to normalize relations with the Black Continent
Deby is one of the oldest rulers in Africa. He took power in 1990 and won a fifth term in April 2016 to lead the country of about 15 million people

نتنياهو في تشاد: إننا نصنع التاريخ
وقع رئيس الوزراء الاسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو والرئيس التشادي إدريس ديبي مذكرة استئناف العلاقات الدبلوماسية بين بلديهما، بعد أن قطعتها نجامينا عام 1972.
ووصف نتنياهو في بيان نشر على حسابه في "تويتر" زيارته هذه لتشاد بـ"التاريخية"، مضيفا أنه والرئيس التشادي يعتبران استئناف العلاقات الدبلوماسية بين بلديهما "مفتاحا لتعاون مستقبلي يفيد البلدين".
وأشار رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي إلى أن الهدف من الخطوة هو تحسين العلاقات مع العالم الإسلامي، مضيفا أنه يتوقع المزيد من مثل هذه الإنجازات الدبلوماسية قريبا.
وقال عبر "تويتر": "إسرائيل تدخل إلى العالم الإسلامي. هذه هي نتيجة عمل مكثف قمنا به على مدار السنوات الأخيرة. نحن نصنع التاريخ ونحوّل إسرائيل إلى قوة عالمية صاعدة".
وأضاف: "قلت للرئيس التشادي ديبي: بالنسبة لنا، هناك دلالة خاصة في كون تشاد دولة ذات أغلبية مسلمة تسعى إلى إقامة أواصر الصداقة مع إسرائيل. هناك العديد من هذه الدول، أؤمن بمستقبل الصداقة التي تجمعنا".
وأشار نتنياهو إلى أن الرئاسة التشادية استقبلته "بكل حفاوة واحترام مثلما استقبلنا بكل احترام الرئيس ديبي في إسرائيل".
وتأتي زيارته التي تستمر يوما واحدا في أعقاب زيارة قام بها الرئيس التشادي في نوفمبر الناضي لإسرائيل.
وكانت ضغوط مارستها دول إسلامية في إفريقيا بسبب الحروب العربية الإسرائيلية أسفرت عن قرار عدد من الدول الإفريقية بقطع العلاقات مع إسرائيل، وبينها تشاد.
لكن في السنوات الأخيرة، أشارت إسرائيل إلى احتمالات التعاون في مجالات الأمن والتكنولوجيا والزراعة وغيرها من أجل تطبيع العلاقات مع القارة السوداء.
تجدر الإشارة إلى أن ديبي هو أحد أقدم الحكام في إفريقيا، وقد تولى السلطة عام 1990 وفاز بولاية خامسة في أبريل 2016 لقيادة البلد الذي يسكنه نحو 15 مليون نسمة.
