Syrian Transport Minister: Linking Syria with Iraq and Iran by rail is one of our priorities
Syrian Transport Minister Ali Hammoud said linking Syria, Iraq and Iran with railways is a priority for his ministry and its strategic vision for developing relations.
The Syrian minister said during a meeting with the president and members of the Syrian-Iraqi company, which is visiting Syria these days, that the linking process will take place across the border Shalmgeh, pointing to the need to establish 32 kilometers of railways in the Iraqi territory to connect the Basra railway line associated with Baghdad and Karbala and Kadhimiya and northern Iraq .
He said that the linking process will enable Iraqis to travel to various parts of Iran as well as transit to Syria and the exchange of goods.
Hamoud said the planned rail network is linked to the Central Asian networks, which are linked to the railways of China and Russia, noting that the link will also enable Iraq to transfer its citizens and goods to Russia and China via Iran, including Syria.
He pointed out that this railway network will be part of the Silk Road system, which Damascus seeks to pass through Syrian territory.
Hamoud said the railways would enable visitors to the holy shrines in Iraq and Syria to travel by rail, and then to connect the Syrian rail to the port of Latakia.

DAMASCUS, (SANA) - Syrian Transport Minister Ali Hammoud on Monday discussed with a delegation from the ruling United Russia party the cooperation between Syria and Russia in the field of transport.
During his meeting with the delegation, headed by the member of the Presidency of the General Union of the Union of Russian Federation, Dmitry Sablin, the promising horizon for the participation of Russian companies in the work of the development of the structure of the Syrian civil airports, the expansion and rehabilitation of Tartous port and maritime transport and other aspects of economic cooperation and development between the two countries.
The two sides also discussed the protocol of cooperation agreement with the Russian city of Sevastopol, in addition to other steps supporting the development of strategic relations between the two countries.

وزير النقل السوري: ربط سوريا مع العراق وإيران بالسكك الحديد من أولوياتنا
قال وزير النقل السوري علي حمود إن ربط سوريا والعراق وإيران بسكك الحديد يعتبر ضمن الأولويات التي تعمل عليها وزارته، وفي رؤيتها الاستراتيجية لتطوير العلاقات.
وأوضح الوزير السوري خلال استقباله رئيس وأعضاء إدارة الشركة السورية العراقية، الذي يزور سوريا هذه الأيام، أن عملية الربط ستتم عبر منطقة شلمجة الحدودية، مشيرا إلى ضرورة إنشاء 32 كيلومترا من سكك الحديد في الأراضي العراقية للاتصال بخط سكك البصرة المرتبطة مع بغداد وكربلاء والكاظمية وشمال العراق.
وذكر أن عملية الربط ستمكن العراقيين من السفر إلى مختلف مناطق ايران وكذلك العبور إلى سوريا وتبادل البضائع.
وذكر حمود أن شبكة سكك الحديد المزمع تنفيذها ترتبط مع شبكات آسيا الوسطى المرتبطة بدورها مع سكك الصين وروسيا، منوها بأن عملية الربط ستمكن العراق أيضا من نقل مواطنيه وسلعه إلى روسيا والصين عبر إيران، ومنها إلى سوريا.
وأشار إلى أن شبكة سكك الحديد هذه ستكون جزءا من منظومة طريق الحرير الذي تسعى دمشق لتمريره عبر الأراضي السورية.
وقال حمود إن السكك الحديدية ستمكن زوار العتبات المقدسة في العراق وسوريا عبر التنقل السككي، ومن ثم الاتصال بالسكك السورية وصولا إلى ميناء اللاذقية.

بحث وزير النقل السوري، علي حمود، اليوم الاثنين، مع وفد من حزب "روسيا الموحدة" الحاكم التعاون القائم بين سوريا وروسيا، في مجال النقل​​​.
وخلال لقائه مع الوفد، الذي يترأسه عضو هيئة الرئاسة في المجلس العام لحزب روسيا الموحدة، دميتري سابلين، الأفق الواعدة لمشاركة الشركات الروسية في أعمال تطوير بنية المطارات المدنية السورية، وتوسيع وتأهيل مرفأ طرطوس، والنقل البحري، وغيرها من جوانب التعاون الاقتصادي والتنموي بين البلدين.
كما ناقش الطرفان بروتوكول اتفاقية التعاون مع مدينة سيفاستوبل الروسية، إضافة إلى خطوات أخرى داعمة لتطوير العلاقات الاستراتيجية بين البلدين.
