Authorities in the city of Atbara in the state of the River Nile in northern Sudan declared a state of emergency, after the protests intensified in protest against the lack of bread and high prices.
Al-Hurra correspondent reported that the authorities imposed a curfew from 6 pm to 6 am local time, and the study was suspended in all schools in the area

All cities in Sudan, including the capital, have been suffering from bread shortages for three weeks
According to official statistics, Sudan consumes 2.5 million tons of wheat, 40 percent of which is produced and imports the rest

تظاهرات الخبز في السودان.. إعلان حالة الطوارئ في عطبرة
أعلنت السلطات في مدينة عطبرة بولاية نهر النيل شمال السودان حالة الطوارئ، بعدما تصاعدت حدة التظاهرات احتجاجا على انعدام الخبز وارتفاع الأسعار.
وأفاد مراسل قناة الحرة، بأن السلطات فرضت حظرا للتجوال من السادسة مساء حتى السادسة صباحا بالتوقيت المحلي، كما تم تعليق الدراسة في جميع مدارس المنطقة.
وكان مئات الأشخاص قد تظاهروا صباح الأربعاء في عطبرة احتجاجا على انعدام الخبز وارتفاع أسعار المواد والسلع الاستهلاكية.
وأضرم متظاهرون غاضبون النار في مقر حزب المؤتمر الوطني الحاكم في عطبرة، قبل أن تتزايد رقعة التظاهرات مساء، حيث أشعل المتظاهرون النيران في مقرات للحكومة المحلية.
وتعاني كل المدن السودانية بما فيها العاصمة شحا في كميات الخبز منذ ثلاثة أسابيع.
ويستهلك السودان وفق إحصاءات رسمية 2.5 مليون طن من القمح ينتج منها 40 في المئة ويستورد الباقي .
