Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has said he is "ashamed" of recent statements made by US Senator Lindsey Graham about his Saudi neighbor
"As a Muslim living in this region, I feel ashamed and ashamed that such comments have been made about our neighbor," Zarif said at the Al-Nidaa conference on Friday evening

ظريف: كمسلم أخجل من تعليقات السيناتور غراهام حول السعودية
صرح وزير الخارجية الإيراني، محمد جواد ظريف، بأنه "كمسلم" يعتريه الخجل من التصريحات الأخيرة التي أدلى بها السيناتور الأمريكي، ليندسي غراهام، حول جارته السعودية.
وقال ظريف، في ملتقى "حزب النداء"، مساء أمس الجمعة، متطرقا إلى تصريحات غراهام: "إنني كمسلم يعيش في هذه المنطقة أشعر بالخجل والخزي من أن مثل هذه التعليقات قيلت عن جارنا (السعودية)".
وتابع ظريف، متوجها إلى السيناتور الأمريكي: "وفي الوقت ذاته أشعر بالفخر من أننا نقاوم الضغوط التي تمارسونها علينا منذ 40 عاما، وهذا الأمر أدى إلى وجود انطباع لديكم أن جيراننا، إذا لم تكن هناك هذه الضغوط، سيتكلمون الفارسية. لكنكم مخطئون".
كما أشار وزير الخارجية الإيراني إلى أن عهد القوى الكبرى في العالم انتهى ويجب عدم تركيز كل الاهتمام على الولايات المتحدة، مضيفا: "ينبغي أيضا ألا نظن أن لأمريكا دورا في كل ما يحدث في العالم، والدنيا تغيرت والغرب ليس مركزا لها".
تعليقات ظريف جاءت في إشارة إلى تصريحات غراهام، العضو الجمهوري في مجلس الشيوخ الأمريكي من ولاية كارولينا الجنوبية، التي أدلى بها الاثنين الماضي في حديث لقناة "فوكس نيوز" الأمريكية، قائلا: "لولا الولايات المتحدة لتكلم السعوديون الفارسية في أسبوع واحد".
ودعا غراهام، المعروف بانتقاداته الحادة تجاه السعودية في الآونة الأخيرة، إدارة الرئيس الأمريكي، دونالد ترامب، إلى استخدام الأدوات المتوفرة لديها لمحاسبة السعودية على قتل الصحفي، جمال خاشقجي، القضية التي أثارت أصداء دولية شديدة عالميا لا سيما في الولايات المتحدة، حيث يحمل الكثيرون ولي عهد المملكة، الأمير محمد بن سلمان، المسؤولية عن هذه الجريمة.
