Renewed demonstrations demanding free elections in the streets of Moscow
Moscow - Hundreds took to the streets of central Moscow on Saturday to demand free elections for the legislature of the Russian capital, defying a ban imposed by the authorities and violent arrests of previous protests.
Demonstrations over the council's election for months turned into Russia's biggest sustained protest movement from 2011 to 2013, when protesters took to the streets to protest against what they saw as vote-rigging.
Up to 2,000 protesters marched through one of Moscow's main streets shouting "Russia will become free" and "This is our city."
Some protesters carried banners on Boulevard Ring in central Moscow, calling for freedom for political prisoners.
Since last July, Russia has been witnessing demonstrations almost weekly, to protest the exclusion of opposition and independents from the elections of the Moscow City Council, scheduled for September 8.

تجدد المظاهرات المطالبة بانتخابات حرة في شوارع موسكو
خرج المئات إلى شوارع وسط موسكو اليوم السبت للمطالبة بانتخابات حرة للمجلس التشريعي للعاصمة الروسية متحدين حظراً فرضته السلطات واعتقالات عنيفة شهدتها احتجاجات سابقة.
وتحولت المظاهرات المتعلقة بانتخابات المجلس على مدى شهور إلى أكبر حركة احتجاج متواصلة في روسيا منذ الفترة من عام 2011 إلى عام 2013 عندما خرج المتظاهرون إلى الشوارع للاحتجاج على ما اعتبروه تزويرا للانتخابات.
وسار ما يصل إلى ألفي محتج عبر أحد شوارع موسكو الرئيسية مرددين هتافي "روسيا ستصبح حرة" و"هذه مدينتنا".
وحمل بعض المتظاهرين لافتات في شارع "بوليفارد رينغ" وسط موسكو، تطالب بالحرية للسجناء السياسيين.

ومنذ تموز الماضي، تشهد روسيا تظاهرات بشكل شبه أسبوعي، احتجاجا على استبعاد المعارضة والمستقلين من انتخابات مجلس مدينة موسكو، المقررة في 8 أيلول.
