Huawei responds to charges of spying on Arab and African politicians
Beijing - China's Huawei subsidiary denied on Friday a report by the Wall Street Journal that Huawei is helping Ugandan and Algerian governments to spy on political opponents.
Algeria - Sputnik. In a statement released today, Huawei rejected what it called "the unfounded allegations of the Wall Street Journal against its commercial activities in Algeria, Uganda and Zambia."
"Huawei's Code of Conduct prohibits any employee from engaging in any activity that would endanger the data or privacy of our customers or end users, or violate applicable laws."
"Huawei is proud to abide by local laws and regulations in all markets in which it operates and will vigorously defend its reputation against these unfounded allegations."
And yesterday, some Algerian media, an article from the American Wall Street Journal, suggesting that Huawei employees have used "safe city" solutions to help Ugandan, Zambian and Algerian governments to spy on political opponents.

نفت شركة "هواوي" الصينية عبر فرعها في الجزائر، اليوم الجمعة، ما جاء في تحقيق صحفي نشر في "وول ستريت جورنال، عن مساعدة "هواوي" للحكومات الأوغندية والجزائرية بغرض التجسس على معارضين سياسيين.
الجزائر - سبوتنيك. ورفضت شركة "هواوي"، في بيان نشرته اليوم، ما وصفته "بمزاعم وول ستريت جورنال التي لا أساس لها من الصحة ضد أنشطتها التجارية في الجزائر وأوغندا وزامبيا".
وأضاف الشركة: "تحظر قواعد سلوك العمل الخاصة بشركة هواوي أي موظف من المشاركة في أي نشاط من شأنه أن يعرض البيانات أو خصوصية عملائنا أو المستخدمين النهائيين للخطر، أو ينتهك القوانين المعمول بها."
كما عبرت هواوي عن "فخرها بالالتزام بالقوانين واللوائح المحلية في جميع الأسواق التي تعمل فيها وستدافع بقوة عن سمعتها ضد هذه المزاعم التي لا أساس لها من الصحة".

وتناقلت، أمس، بعض وسائل الإعلام الجزائرية، مقالًا من صحيفة وول ستريت جورنال الأمريكية، تشير فيه إلى أن موظفي شركة هواوي قد استخدموا حلول "المدينة الآمنة" لمساعدة الحكومات الأوغندية والزامبية والجزائرية على التجسس على المعارضين السياسيين.
