ينحدر من عشيرة داؤود-قبيلة أبجال،أشتهر كزعيم حرب خصم لمثيله محمد فارح حسن(عيديد)،وظل في حرب مع الأخير حتى مقتله في عام ١٩٩٦،وقد نال دعما كبيرا من قبيلته لكونه شكل قائد القبيلة في حروبها الأهلية،وحتى بعد ظهور منافسيين أخريين له من قبيلة الأبجال،كمثال بشير راجي،عمر فينيش.

كان في حوزته المئات من الشباب والذين أصبحوا جزء من الميليشيا التي تصدرها،ناهيك عن استيلائه على حصة من سلاح الدولة المنهارة،وحصوله على كميات أخرى من الخارج،وقد شكل كواحد من أبرز أمراء الحرب الذين أعاقوا حكومة الرئيس عبدالقاسم صلاد حسن،ونال دعما من إثيوبيا لأجل ذلك.

إلا أنه لم يلتزم باتفاقه مع يوسف إلى حدا كبير،حيث أراد أن يستدرج عبدالله يوسف بالتعاون مع زملائه الأخرين من أمراء الحرب في مقديشو وظل يشكل الأزمات للحكومة الوليدة،ومن ثم شارك مع بعض أمراء الحرب دخل خوض صراع مع المحاكم ألا إسلامية،وانتهى الأمر بهم إلى تقويض سيطرتهم على العاصمة في ٢٠٠٦ والتي وقعت في قبضة المحاكم.

ومجددا في ٢٠١٧ تم ضم موسى إلى مجلس الشيوخ،وأصبح عضوا لا يمارس صلاحيات حقيقية،بعد تجاوز التوازنات القبلية التي تشكل سبب حضوره وعضويته في المجلس،ويشكل تواجده في هذه المؤسسة كعبئ على الدولة والمجتمع ويشمل ذلك آخرين على شاكلته.

وعلى صعيد المشهد العام فإن العاصمة مقديشو لازالت تترنح ما بين قبضات أمراء حرب،حركة الشباب وحضور متواضع للحكومة،فالمليشيات القبلية قائمة وهي جزء من قرار بعض شخصيات ذات نفوذ في المدينة،ويمثل موسى سودي واحدا من هؤلاء،بينما تسعى الحكومة الراهنة لتقويض سيطرتهم لكونهم يشكلون عاملا معيقا لبسط سلطتها على العاصمة وكقوى سياسية تمارس زعزعة الأمن والاستقرار.

وفي سبيل ذلك ترغب الحكومة في تقويض حضور ميليشيات يلحو والتي يتواجد بعضها في الجيش والقوات الأمنية،وهو ما أدى إلى إصدار عمدة مقديشو عبدالرحمن عمر ياريسو لقرار يقضي بإعادة أراضي وممتلكات الدولة القابعة تحث سيطرة أفراد،وانطلاقا من ذلك تم مطالبته بأن يخلي مبنى مستشفى مارينو في منطقة ليدو كاران والقريب من مساكن بعض المتنفذين.

يتزامن مشهد تمرده مع حشد كل من الرؤساء السابقين شريف شيخ أحمد وحسن شيخ محمود،لقبائل هيراب لكي تسقط الحكومة وذلك على خلفية أطماع سياسية وقبلية،وفي حين هناك مساعي لتقريب بين وجهات النظر ممثلة بعمدة مقديشو وعضو مجلس الشيوخ المتمرد،إلا أنه لايمكن التكهن إلى أين ستنتهي في المحصلة.
