وقال البيان: "حتى تنفيذ هذه المطالب كاملة علينا أن نتمسك باعتصامنا أمام القيادة العامة للقوات المسلحة بالعاصمة وباعتصامنا في ولايات السودان المختلفة وبالإضراب الشامل حتى تنقل السلطة بالكامل لحكومة مدنية انتقالية تعبر عنكم وعن مطالب ثورتكم العظيمة. خلفنا مصاعب الجبال وأمامنا سهول نسيرها لنزرعها قمحاً ووعداً وتمني في بلاد لن يضام فيها أحد مجدداً ولن يحكمها متجبر من جديد.

ويقول شهود عيان أن الفريق أول البرهان دخل ساحة الاعتصام صباح يوم الجمعة، حيث جمعته صورة تم تداولها مع إبراهيم الشيخ، رئيس حزب المؤتمر السوداني السابق الذي طالبه بالانحياز الي مطالب الشعب.
