كيف تحطم المربع الإنجليزي .
في الذكري 135 لملحمة تاماي. 
ففي الثالث عشر من مارس1884م.
حدثت أكبر ملاحم القرن الثامن عشر وهي معركة كسر العظم بين قوات البجا واكبر إمبراطورية في ذالك العهد الإمبراطورية البريطانية. 
تسلح البجا بقيادة الأمير عثمان دقنة بايمانهم بدينهم وحبهم لوطنهم وارضهم وقضيتهم في محاربة قوي البغي والاستعمار. 
والجيوش البريطانية الغازية بقيادة السير جنرال وليم جراهام. باسلحتهم الحديثة وخططهم العسكرية وقواتهم المتمرسة في القتال. 
نطلق إضاءات علي تلك المعركة التي غيرت مسار الخطط العسكرية وانهار فيها المربع التكتيكي الإنجليز واصداء ذالك الحدث نكتبها حتي تعلمها الأجيال ويعلم الجميع أن تاريخ السودان يحتاج إلى إعادة كتابته بصدق وأمانة.
مجلس العموم البريطاني يهتز ويضج با النكبة التي حدثت لقوات الإمبراطورية التي لاتغيب عنها الشمس. 
جريدة التايمس:------ 
تكتب التايمس البريطانية(لقد أهان مقاتلوالبجة هيبة جيوش الامبراطورية ) وتكتب صحيفة أخري(إنهيار نظرية المربع التكتيكي أمام ضربات عثمان دقنة) وتتسأل أحدي الصحف المحليه ( ماذا ينتظر غلادستون عليه أن يستقيل بعد سحق قواتنا في سواحل البحر الأحمر ؟)
ويتشكل رائ عام في بريطانيا العظمي ويستدعي البرلمان رئيس مجلس الوزراء وليم غلادستون ومسائلته عن اهدار كرامة الجنود البريطانين في شرق السودان والهزائم التي منو بها علي ايدي البجا وقوات دقنة ومحاربي البجة الشرسون.
ويستدعي الادميرال السير وليم هوايت قائد الأسطول البريطاني ويتم توجيهه بتجميع قواته وإرسالها لسواحل البحر الأحمر لاجتياح شرق السودان وتأديب الأمير عثمان دقنة وقتله ورصدت جائزة ضخمة قيمتها (1000 )جنيه إسترليني للقبض علي عثمان دقنة وتبلغ قيمتها با بالمليارات. 
ينطلق الأسطول البريطاني نحو شواطئ البحر الأحمر في فبراير 1884م ويتم إنزال القوات في سواكن مع تأمين من سفن الأسطول وفي مقدمتها المدمرة البريطانية(نسر جلالة الملكة ) وتم إختيار ضباط ذو كفأة عالية وخبرة قتالية واسعة والمسألة لدي الإنجليز إعادة الكرامة يقودها الجنرال سير جيرالد غراهام يحمل وسام صليب فيكتوريا وهو اعلي الدرجات والاوسمة العسكرية 
الكونيل هيربرت استيورت الذي اشتهر في معركة التل الكبير وهزم قوات عرابي 
الكونيل فريدريك برنابي قائد سلاح الحرس الملكي(البلووز ) واللورد شارلس بيرز فورد من قادة الأسطول البحري الملكي وهؤلاء يمثلون هيئة قيادة العمليات العسكرية الميدانية وترافقهم قادة من مختلف الرتب العسكرية وتم إختيار أقوي وحدات الجيش البريطاني وهي قوات الهايلانرز سلاح المدفعية والبلاك ووتش والمارينز مشاة البحرية الملكية واليوركشير واللانكشير وكتيبة المرتفعات الاسكتلندية المعروفة (الحرس الاسود ) وتتكون إجمالي القوات المشاركة ب20 الف مقاتل بريطاني وتتم عملية الانزال للمعركة بمرسي ترنكتات شمال طوكر الهدف اكتساح شرق السودان والاستيلاء علي طوكر وسنكات وفتح الطريق الانطلاق نحو الخرطوم واجتثاث الحركة المهدية وتأديب قوات الأمير دقنة.
تم تشكيل أضخم مربع في تلك الحقبة من التأريخ حيث كان علي النحو التالي الواجهة الأمامية للمربع قوات الهايلانرز والواجهة الخلفية البلاك ووتش والجهة اليسري من اليوركشير واللانكشير وقوات الايرش والكتيبة الاسكتلندية الحرس الاسود في الجهة اليمنة تم تأمين المربع بمدافع غاتلينج الرشاشة وتغطية مدافع الأسطول البحري في ترنكتات هذا هو الموقف 
وفي الجهة الاخري ومن التلال القريبة يراقب عثمان دقنة الموقف وتصله المعلومات التفصيلية عن قوات العدو ويرسل للاهالي في ضواحي طوكر واركويت ورسالته كلمات واضحة ( أن الكفار والصليبين قد وصلوا إلى أرضكم وأن الجهاد أصبح فرض عين علي كل من يستطيع أن يحمل السلاح والتأريخ لن يرحمكم لو عبر الكفار عبر الشرق) وبعد هذه الرسالة تتدفق قبائل البجة نحو معسكر الأمير عثمان دقنة لتصل قواته إلي ستة الف مقاتل ويبايعون على بيعة الموت ويتم توزيع القوة يكلف الامير عبدالله الحسن والأمير مدني با الارتكاز في الأطلال القائمة علي قرية التيب وتسليحهم واحد مدفع غاتلينج وبضعة مدافع ميدان وبنادق كانوا قد غنموها من المعارك السابقة 
وتنطلق سرايا المناوشة لترتكز غرب القوات الانجليزية تتحرك قوات السير غراهام ببطئ وغرور نحو الشمال وتتحرك سرايا المناوشات التابعة للامير من جهتي اليسار واليمين وتهاجم فجأة قوات الحرس الاسود الاسكتلندية لتختبر قوتها وتختفي سرايا المناوشات وسط التلال وتنطلق قوة أخري من قوات دقنة لتختبر الميسرة حيث قوات اللانكشير واليوركشير والارش هجوم مباغت وسريع ترتبك القوة وتضرب المدفعية بقوة نحو أهداف غامضة ومتحركة وسريعة ويتحرك الجنرال جراهام ويوجه با الإسراع بحركة القوات وتختفي قوات دقنة كانها سراب وخطة الأمير عثمان دقنة تسير بثبات وهي جرجرة القوات الانجليزية نحو التيب للانقضاض عليها ومع وصول قوات جراهام بضجيجها وطبولها وسط قرية التيب وفجأة تنطلق نحوهم قوات دقنة ومحاربي البجة الشرسون نحو قوات جراهام بسرعة هائلة وهائجة لتضرب المربع الإنجليزي با الميسرة والميمنة ولتشتبك اشتباك مباشر ويلتحم ستة الف من مقاتلي البجة في قتال من نقطة الصفر وتنقضي قوات تلال التيب نحو مدافع الهايلانرز في بسالة منقطعة النظير ويجتاح هؤلاء الأبطال المربع الإنجليزي وسط انين الجرحي واهات الجنرالات المتساقطة تحت سيوف البجة وأصبح القتال رجل لرجل وينهار المربع الانجليز ويترنح وسط الموج المتدفق والسيل المنهمر وسط ذهول الجنرال جراهام الذي حاول الإنسحاب نحو الساحل ولكن شراسة القتال تصبح الرؤيا غير واضحة وجراهام في سط المربع يمتلكه الرعب والجنون وهو يشاهد دمار ودماء في كل مكان وبعد انتهاء المعركة يلملم ماتبقي من قواته المنهارة والمنهكة ويهرب نحو سواكن.
ويكتب ليصف المعركة بكل صدق وأمانة ويقول((مجموعة ضخمة من الوطنيين البجة جاءت كا السيل المنهمر ومتدفق وهجمت بعزيمة لاتلين علي كتيبة اليوركشير وللانكشير وكتيبة المرتفعات الاسكتلندية الحرس الاسود مماجعل المربع ينهار ويتخبط في فوضي تامة وقد تمكن البجة من الاستيلاء علي مدافع لواء البحرية التي امنها رجالها حتي النهاية خسائرنا كانت فادحة فكثيرا من الرجال الشجعان من الرويال هايلاندزر واليوركشير والارش وللانكشير قدموا حياتهم لإنقاذ شرف وسمعة وحداتهم وخسائر العدو بلغت اربعة الف مابين قتيل وجريح ولكن هؤلاء الأبطال البجا السودانيون الشجعان وكما حدث من قبل انسحبوا بهدوء ونظام جيد مقدمين صورة مشرفة عن أنفسهم وكان من الواضح انهم مصممون علي القتال مرة أخرى )) هكذا وصف السير وليم جراهام ما حدث في أرض المعركة في معركة الساحل في التيب وتاماي.
