An independent body to investigate the complaints of Facebook users
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg defended the policy of dealing with the crisis of Russian intervention in the US elections through the world's largest social networking platform and announced a new plan to combat misconduct.
Zuckerberg said during a press conference by telephone and in a publication on Facebook that he acted quickly to counter the Russian intervention, and supports the issuance of regulations that encourage companies to reduce the spread of "harmful content."
He also announced several measures, including strict plans to form an independent body by the end of 2019 to review user complaints.
"I increasingly believe that Facebook should not alone make a lot of important decisions about freedom of expression and safety," Zuckerberg wrote.
The Facebook network has faced fierce criticism over the past two years because of the slow pace it has adopted in developing tools to counter extremist content and advertising campaigns.
