IKEA surprises its employees with a shocking decision
Sweden's furniture giant IKEA announced on Wednesday it would cut 7,500 employees worldwide by 2020, most of them office workers, amid a reorganization to focus on e-commerce and smaller stores in city centers
The layoff covers about 5% of the Angka Holding Group, the parent company of IKEA, the largest brand of 367 stores in 30 countries and employing 160,000 people.
"The jobs will be cut globally, but stores and distribution centers will not be affected," the company's retail manager, Tulga Unka, told AFP
IKEA will also employ 11,500 people in the next two years to implement the company's "digital capabilities" and plans to open about 30 new stores
The company is opening shops in city centers in response to lifestyle change as fewer people own cars

أعلنت شركة ايكيا السويدية العملاقة للأثاث الأربعاء أنها ستستغني عن 7500 موظف في أنحاء العالم بحلول 2020 معظمهم يقومون بأعمال مكتبية، وسط عملية إعادة تنظيم للتركيز على التجارة الالكترونية والمتاجر الأصغر في مراكز المدن.
وتطال عملية الاستغناء هذه نحو 5% من موظفي مجموعة "انغكا هولدنغ"، الشركة الأم لايكيا التي تعتبر أكبر علاماتها التجارية حيث ينتشر 367 متجرا يحمل اسمها في 30 بلدا وتوظف 160 ألف شخص.
وصرح مدير التجزئة في الشركة تولغا اونكا لوكالة فرانس برس أن الوظائف سيتم اقتطاعها على مستوى العالم، ولكن المتاجر ومراكز التوزيع لن تتأثر.
كما ستوظف ايكيا في الوقت ذاته 11500 شخص في العامين القادمين لتنفيذ "قدرات الشركة الرقمية" وخططها لفتح نحو 30 متجرا جديداً.

وتقوم الشركة بفتح متاجر في مراكز المدن استجابة لتغير أسلوب الحياة حيث إن عدداً أقل من الناس يمتلكون سيارات.
