US Assistant Secretary of State Visits Asmara
The US State Department said in a statement on Wednesday that Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Tibor Naji will visit the Horn of Africa countries including Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Kenya. The US diplomat will begin his visit on Tuesday and will continue until December 4. He is scheduled to meet with leaders of these countries where he will discuss security and stability in the region as well as the development of the capacities of African youth. The US diplomat is likely to meet the ambassadors of the IGAD and the African Union. It is worth mentioning that the US official is the second senior US official to visit Eritrea during the past ten years. It is known that the United States does not have an ambassador in the capital Asmara, where he has long been represented by a diplomat with the rank of charge d'affaires

قالت وزارة الخارجية الامريكية في بيان لها يوم الاربعاء الثاني والعشرين من الشهر الجاري بأن السيد تيبور ناجي مساعد وزير الخارجية للشئون الافريقية سيقوم بزيارة لدول القرن الافريقي تشمل كل جيبوتي وارتريا واثيوبيا وكينيا. وسيبدأ الدبلوماسي الامريكي زيارته يوم الثلاثاء المقبل وسوف تستمر حتي الرابع من شهر ديسمبر المقبل. ومن المقرر أن يلتقي في زيارته بزعماء هذه الدول حيث سوف يناقش معهم الأمن والاستقرار في المنطقة إضافة لتنمية قدرات الشباب الافريقي، ومن المحتمل أن يلتقي الدبلوماسي الامريكي بالسفراء في منظمة الايغاد والاتحاد الافريقي. الجدير بالذكر بأن المسئول الامريكي هو ثاني مسئول امريكي رفيع المستوى يزور ارتريا خلال العشر سنوات الماضية. ومن المعلوم بأن الولايات المتحدة ليس لديها سفير في العاصمة اسمرا حيث يمثلها ومنذ فترة طويلة دبلوماسي بدرجة قائم بالأعمال.
