أوكتاغون مصر و بنتاغون أمريكا؟ 
تعمل حكومة الرئيس المصري، عبد الفتاح السيسي، على إنشاء مقر جديد لوزارة الدفاع المصرية هو الأضخم في الشرق الأوسط، في العاصمة الإدارية الجديدة بالقاهرة الكبرى.
ويضم المبنى الجديد الذي يسمى "الأوكتاغون" أو "The Octagon" أي ثماني الأضلاع، جميع مقرات أفرع القوات المسلحة المصرية، ومن المقرر أن يتم الانتهاء منه قريبا.
والأوكتاغون تعني ثماني الأضلاع أو الزوايا، فيما يعني البنتاغون The Pentagon، خماسي الأضلاع أو الزوايا، وهي تسمية في اللغة اليونانية القديمة، حيث أن أوكتا تعني الرقم ثمانية، بينما بنتا تعني الرقم خمسة، ومن هنا أطلق لفظ بنتاغون على مبنى وزارة الدفاع الأمريكية، لأنه مصمم على شكل مبنى خماسي الأضلاع.
أما الأوكتاغون فهو الاسم الذي أطلق على المقر الجديد لوزارة الدفاع المصرية في العاصمة الإدارية الجديدة، حيث أنه مصمم على شكل مبنى ثماني الأضلاع، أو بالأدق على شكل عدة مبان كل منها ثماني الأوجه ومرتبطة بممرات موصولة بمبنى رئيسي في الوسط.
يقع المشروع على مساحة إجمالية تقدر بـ189 ألف متر مربع، بينما تقدر المساحة الفعلية للمباني بـ45 ألف متر مربع، ويشتمل التصميم على 8 مباني مثمنة الأوجه على الطراز الفرعوني متراصة على شكل دائرة تضم المباني الإدارية، بينما هناك مبنيان وزاريان مركزيان يقعان في مركز الدائرة ويتصلان ببعضهما البعض وبباقي المباني الثمانية الخارجية بممرات طولية، وعدد هذه المباني مساو لعدد إدارات الجيش المصري.
