The General Union of Agricultural Farmers in Egypt has refused to replace Egyptian cotton with cotton, while the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation is studying this proposal.

مستقبل زراعة القطن في مصر
رفضت النقابة العامة للفلاحين الزراعيين في مصر، استبدال زراعة القطن المصري بالقطن الأمريكي، في وقت تدرس فيه وزارة الزراعة المصرية واستصلاح الأراضي هذا المقترح.
وأشار نقيب الفلاحين عماد أبو حسين، في تصريحات صحفية له، إلى أن "هذا المقترح سيؤدي إلى إنهيار زراعة القطن المصري، وتدمير سمعته على مستوى العالم".
وكشف النقيب أن "أسباب تدهور زراعة وتجارة القطن المصري خلال السنوات الماضية، تعود إلى وجود مخططات شيطانية منذ ثمانينيات القرن الماضي تهدف إلى إنهاء زراعة القطن لمصلحة مافيا الاستيراد والدول المنتجة للقطن".
وأوضح نقيب الفلاحين، أنه "رغم ما تعرض له القطن المصري من أزمات خلال السنوات الماضية، إلا أنه ما زال قادرا على المنافسة العالمية، بحكم وجود مميزات به لا توجد في أي قطن آخر في العالم كالنعومة وطول التيلة، ولا تخرج منه عوادم عند استخدامه".
من جانبه، قال النوبي أبو اللوز الأمين العام لنقابة الفلاحين المصريين، أن "ما يتعرض له القطن المصري الآن يعتبر مؤامرة حقيقية لتدمير الذهب الأبيض وخروج مصر من التربع على عرش القطن طويل التيلة، الذي يعتبر منذ 30 عاما عصب الاقتصاد الزراعي".
وكشف أمين عام الفلاحين، أنه "تم تسليم بذرة القطن المصري إلى شركة مونسانتو الأمريكية، منها 9 أصناف من القطن طويل التيلة من أجود الأقطان المصرية، يوم 22 مايو 2000، حيث استعانت أمريكا بهذه الأصناف ليتم تهجينها بالقطن الأمريكي وإنتاج أصناف جديدة تغزو بها العالم، وهو ما اعتبر بداية حقيقية لتدمير القطن المصري إلى الأبد"، بحسب قوله.
