Sudan and Egypt agree to secure common borders
Sudan and Egypt agreed to conduct patrols along the common border between the two countries to control them, and reached understandings on the formation of joint forces in the future, as well as cooperation in the field of military training
"The two countries agreed to conduct joint patrols on the border and set up border control mechanisms," Sudanese Chief of Staff Lieutenant-General Kamal Abdul-Maarouf told the press
He added: "On the intelligence axis agreed to activate intelligence and security cooperation in all files and areas and the establishment of training projects in the two countries alternating and continuous coordination in all files that mean the region"
Egyptian Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki arrived in Khartoum on Saturday for a two-day visit during which he met Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir, who praised the evolving level of Sudanese-Egyptian relations and cooperation and coordination between the armed forces of the two countries
President al-Bashir also called for continued cooperation between the two armies, particularly in the areas of training and coordination in border controls to prevent cross-border crimes, combating terrorism and illegal immigration
Sudanese Defense Minister Awad bin Auf held a joint meeting with his Egyptian counterpart, attended by a number of military leaders and officers in both countries
