According to the site "Kurdistan 24" said the party in a statement "deeply saddened the Future Syria Party on the martyrdom of engineer Hefreen Khalaf, Secretary-General of the Future Party in Syria, while carrying out its national and political duties."
Khalaf was reportedly killed when a Turkish-backed group ambushed her on the road to the city of Qamishli.
"A group of Turkish mercenaries tried to take control of the M4 road and killed many people, and one of them was Hafrin," a senior official told Kurdistan 24.
"The Kurdish politician was traveling from the canton of Al Jazeera to Ain Issa and then to Raqqa before the mercenaries blocked the road at a checkpoint and killed all the people there," said Nubhar Mustafa, the party's deputy head in Ain Issa.
"All the passengers were martyred," Mustafa said.
According to a statement issued by the Syrian Democratic Council later in the afternoon, Khalaf was driven out of the car she was in and immediately executed.
"She was taken from her car during a Turkish-backed attack and executed by Turkish-backed mercenary factions on the international road between Qamishli and Manbij, where her driver was also killed," the statement said.
The statement added: "This is clear evidence that the Turkish state continues its criminal policy towards unarmed civilians."
Khalaf's assassination coincides with Turkey's military operation against Kurdish fighters in northern Syria since Wednesday.
Hafrin Khalaf was born in 1983 in the northern northeastern city of Al-Malikiyah (Dirk) and belongs to the province of Hasakah.
She completed her primary, preparatory and secondary education in Al-Malikiyah, then moved to Aleppo to study agricultural engineering, where she graduated in 2009, after which she returned to Al-Malikiyah.
After the outbreak of the war in Syria in 2011, Khalaf intensified her political activism and worked in various civil society organizations, to head the management of the Economic Council in the city of Qamishli.
In 2014, following the announcement of the Kurdish autonomous administration, Hafrin became deputy to the Energy Commission and then head of the Economic Commission for Kurdish-controlled areas in Syria.
In March 2018, Hafrin Khalaf was elected secretary-general of the Future Syria Party, which is close to the SDF.
According to Kurdish media, Hafrin believed in the unity of Syria and that the solution in the country is political and cannot be achieved through fighting.

وبحسب موقع "كردستان 24" قال الحزب في بيان "بحزن شديد يأسف حزب سوريا المستقبل على استشهاد المهندسة هفرين خلف، الأمين العام لحزب المستقبل في سوريا، بينما كانت تقوم بواجباتها الوطنية والسياسية".
وقيل إن خلف قتلت عندما نصبت جماعة تدعمها تركيا كمينًا لها على الطريق المؤدي إلى مدينة القامشلي.
وقال أحد كبار المسؤولين لـ"كردستان 24": "حاولت مجموعة من المرتزقة الأتراك السيطرة على طريق M4  وقتلت الكثير من الناس، وكانت هفرين أحدهم".
وقال نوبهار مصطفى، نائب رئيس الحزب في عين عيسى، إن "السياسية الكردية كانت مسافرة من كانتون الجزيرة إلى عين عيسى ثم إلى الرقة قبل أن يغلق المرتزقة الطريق عند نقطة تفتيش وقتلوا جميع الناس هناك".
وأضاف مصطفى "جميع الركاب استشهدوا".
وفقًا لبيان أصدره المجلس الديمقراطي السوري في وقت لاحق من بعد ظهر اليوم، تم إخراج خلف من السيارة التي كانت فيها وتم إعدامها على الفور.
وقال البيان "لقد أُخِذت من سيارتها خلال هجوم مدعوم من تركيا وأعدمت من قبل فصائل المرتزقة المدعومين من تركيا على الطريق الدولي بين القامشلي ومنبج، حيث استشهد سائقها أيضاً" ، كما جاء في النص.
وأضاف البيان: "هذا دليل واضح على أن الدولة التركية تواصل سياستها الإجرامية تجاه المدنيين العزل".
وتأتي حادثة اغتيال خلف بالتزامن مع العملية العسكرية التي تشنها تركيا ضد المقاتلين الأكراد في شمالي سوريا منذ يوم الأربعاء.
ولدت هفرين خلف عام 1983 في مدينة المالكية (ديرك) أقصى الشمال الشرقي لسوريا وتتبع محافظة الحسكة.
وأكملت تعليمها الابتدائي والإعدادي والثانوي في المالكية، ثم انتقلت إلى مدينة حلب لدراسة الهندسة الزراعية، حيث تخرجت في عام 2009، لتعود بعدها إلى مدينة المالكية.
وبعد اندلاع الحرب في سوريا عام 2011، كثفت خلف من نشاطها السياسي وعملت في منظمات مجتمع مدني مختلفة، لتترأس بعدها إدارة مجلس الاقتصاد في مدينة القامشلي.
في 2014 وبعد الإعلان عن تشكيل الإدارة الذاتية الكردية، أصبحت هفرين نائبة لهيئة الطاقة ومن ثم رئيسة لهيئة الاقتصاد في المناطق التي يسيطر عليها الأكراد في سوريا.
في مارس/ آذار 2018، تم انتخاب هفرين خلف أمينة عامة لحزب سوريا المستقبل المقرب من قوات سوريا الديموقراطية.
ووفقا لوسائل إعلام كردية فقد كانت هفرين تؤمن بوحدة سوريا وأن الحل في البلاد سياسي ولا يمكن أن يتم عبر القتال.
