The demonstrations renewed Friday in Iraq for the fourth consecutive day despite the authorities announced a curfew in the capital Baghdad and a number of provinces, and despite calls by Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi demonstrators to calm down.
Iraqi police opened fire on protesters in central Baghdad on Friday as hundreds gathered to demonstrate against the government and seriously wounded at least one person, a Reuters witness said.
According to a medical source, the death toll of the Iraqi protests rose to at least 60.
But the Commission on Human Rights in Iraq, an official body of parliament, said on Friday:: 37 people have been killed during the escalating protests since Tuesday.
The Commission said in a statement, that "the number of deaths in the protests reached 37 martyrs, and 1329 injuries."
She added that "the number of detainees reached 272 people", pointing to the details are "until Thursday night-Friday."
 Police snipers took up positions on rooftops and fired individual shots at protesters as they gathered, wounding one in the neck.
The security media cell said that security personnel were among the victims of sniping in the flight yard in Baghdad.
The security media accused unidentified snipers of shooting at demonstrators and security personnel in order to "create sedition."
This came in a statement issued by the cell belonging to the Ministry of Defense, the first since the outbreak of protests in several cities on Tuesday.
Protesters stormed the Diwaniya provincial council building in southern Iraq, news agencies quoted a security source as saying.
For his part, called on Mahdi, on Friday, political forces to help him to "carry out reforms in the country," in light of the escalation of popular protests.
"The government commits itself to presenting its scientific programs and doing its utmost to alleviate the suffering of citizens, improve services and provide job opportunities," Abdul Mahdi said in a statement, calling on the legislative and judicial authorities to work together and cooperate within their respective jurisdictions.
He added: "We ask the political forces to cooperate with the government to provide the conditions for reform."
Abdul-Mahdi said that "the religious authority has clarified its position on the unfortunate events that the country is going through, where it condemned and rejected the attack on property and demonstrators and security forces," noting that "demanded that the forces to change their approach to dealing with the problems of the country."
 Iraqi sources pointed out, "to the continued interruption of Internet service for the second day in most parts of the country, specifically in the capital Baghdad.
It called on Kuwait and Qatar, to "wait" and not to travel to Iraq; given the unrest and demonstrations witnessed by the latter.
The Kuwaiti news agency reported that its foreign ministry called on Kuwaiti citizens who intend to travel to Iraq "to wait and not to travel at the present time as a result of the unrest and demonstrations witnessed by Iraqi cities."

The Foreign Ministry, as quoted by the Qatar News Agency, the Qatari citizens visiting Iraq to take precautions and stay away from the gatherings.
On Thursday evening, the Foreign Ministry called on Bahrain, its citizens, not to travel to Iraq at the moment; given the security conditions it is going through.
In the same context, said Assistant Interior Minister for Security Affairs in Iran, Hussein Zulfikari, to reopen the port "Khosravi" border with Iraq, on Friday.
Zulfiqari said in an interview published by local Iranian media that "the port of Khosravi with Iraq will be reopened on Friday, as informed by the Iraqi authorities."
The port of Khosravi was closed Thursday morning on the back of violent and bloody protests in many Iraqi cities, including the capital.
The Iranians are flocking to Iraq to commemorate Arbain Hussein's October 20 visit.

Amnesty International on Friday called on the Iraqi authorities to conduct an "impartial and independent" investigation into the killings of demonstrators by security.
"It is important that the authorities ensure an independent and fully impartial investigation into the use of unnecessary or excessive force by the security forces, resulting in the tragic death of many protesters and the injury of dozens of others," said Lynn Maalouf, Amnesty International's Middle East research director.
In a statement to the organization, Maalouf stressed that "the Iraqi state must commit to holding those responsible" accountable for the killing of demonstrators. "This should not be another case in which the government announces an investigation or the formation of a commission of inquiry that does not yield any results." .
Since last Tuesday, Iraq has witnessed violent protests in the capital Baghdad and southern provinces, where protesters raised banners calling for improved living conditions, and to combat corruption and create jobs.
Protesters also raised demands to topple the government headed by Adel Abdul Mahdi.

تجددت التظاهرات الجمعة في العراق لليوم الرابع على التوالي على الرغم من إعلان السلطات حظر التجوال في العاصمة بغداد وعدد من المحافظات، ورغم دعوات رئيس الحكومة عادل عبد المهدي المتظاهرين إلى الهدوء.
وقال شاهد من رويترز إن الشرطة العراقية، فتحت النار على محتجين بوسط بغداد اليوم الجمعة، فيما تجمع المئات للتظاهر ضد الحكومة وإنها أصابت شخصا واحدا على الأقل، بجروح خطيرة بالرصاص.
وبحسب مصدر طبي فقد ارتفعت حصيلة قتلى احتجاجات العراق إلى 60 على الأقل‎.
ولكن مفوضية حقوق الإنسان في العراق، وهي هيئة رسمية تابعة للبرلمان، قالت الجمعة: :إن 37 شخصاً قتلوا خلال الاحتجاجات المتصاعدة منذ الثلاثاء".
وأوضحت المفوضية في بيان، أن "عدد الوفيات بالاحتجاجات بلغ 37 شهيدا، و1329 إصابة".
وأضافت أن "عدد الموقوفين بلغ 272 شخصا"، لافتة إلى التفاصيل هي "لغاية ليل الخميس-الجمعة".
 واتخذ قناصة الشرطة مواقعهم على أسطح المباني وأطلقوا أعيرة منفردة صوب المحتجين أثناء تجمعهم مما أسفر عن إصابة أحدهم في الرقبة.
وقالت خلية الإعلام الأمني، إن منتسبين أمنيين من ضمن ضحايا القنص في ساحة الطيران في بغداد.
واتهم الإعلام الأمني قناصة مجهولين بإطلاق النار على متظاهرين وأفراد أمن بهدف "خلق فتنة".
جاء ذلك في بيان صادر عن الخلية التي تتبع وزارة الدفاع، هو الأول منذ اندلاع الاحتجاجات في عدة مدن الثلاثاء.
ونقلت وكالات أنباء  عن مصدر أمني أن محتجين اقتحموا مبنى مجلس محافظة الديوانية جنوبي العراق‎.
من جهته دعا عبد المهدي، الجمعة، القوى السياسية إلى مساعدته لـ"إجراء الإصلاحات في البلاد"، في ظل تصاعد وتيرة الاحتجاجات الشعبية.
وقال عبد المهدي في بيان له إن "الحكومة تلزم نفسها بتقديم برامجها العلمية، والقيام بوسعها في تخفيف معاناة المواطنين، وتحسين الخدمات وتوفير فرص عمل"، داعيا "السلطتين التشريعية والقضائية للعمل المشترك والتعاون كل باختصاصه وصلاحياته".
وأضاف: "نطالب القوى السياسية بالتعاون مع الحكومة لتوفير شروط الإصلاح".
وتابع عبد المهدي أن "المرجعية الدينية أوضحت موقفها للأحداث المؤسفة التي تمر بها البلاد، حيث أدانت ورفضت الاعتداء على الممتلكات وعلى المتظاهرين والقوات الأمنية"، مبينا أنها "طالبت القوى بأن تغير منهجها في التعامل مع مشاكل البلاد".
 إلى ذلك أشارت مصادر عراقية"، إلى استمرار انقطاع خدمة الإنترنت لليوم الثاني معظم أنحاء البلاد وتحديدا في العاصمة بغداد.
ودعت الكويت وقطر، إلى "التريث" وعدم السفر إلى العراق؛ نظرًا للاضطرابات والمظاھرات التي يشھدھا الأخير.
وأفادت وكالة الأنباء الكويتية، أن خارجية بلدها دعت المواطنين الكويتيين الذين ينوون السفر إلى العراق إلى "التريث وعدم السفر في الوقت الراھن نتيجة الاضطرابات والمظاھرات التي تشھدھا من مدن عراقية".
وأهابت بالمواطنين المتواجدين حاليا بالعراق إلى "ضرورة مغادرتھا بالسرعة الممكنة وإلى اتخاذ أقصى درجات الحيطة والحذر".
كما دعتهم إلى "الابتعاد عن أماكن التجمعات والمظاھرات واتباع تعليمات السلطات المحلية حتى يتيسر موعد المغادرة".
بدورها دعت الخارجية القطرية، مواطنيها إلى "التريث وعدم السفر إلى العراق في الوقت الراهن، وإلى مغادرة المواطنين القطريين للعراق فوراً نظراً للتطورات التي يشهدها".
وطالبت الخارجية، بحسب ما نقلته وكالة الأنباء القطرية، المواطنين القطريين الزائرين للعراق لاتخاذ الحيطة والابتعاد عن أماكن التجمعات.
ومساء الخميس، دعت الخارجية البحرين، مواطنيها، إلى عدم السفر إلى العراق في الوقت الراهن؛ نظرًا للظروف الأمنية التي يمر بها.
وفي السياق ذاته أفاد مساعد وزير الداخلية للشؤون الأمنية في إيران، حسين ذو الفقاري، بإعادة فتح منفذ "خسروي" الحدودي مع العراق، اليوم الجمعة.
وقال ذو الفقاري في حديث نشرته وسائل إعلام محلية إيرانية إن "منفذ خسروي مع العراق سيعاد فتحه اليوم الجمعة، كما أبلغتنا السلطات العراقية".
وأغلق منفذ خسروي صباح الخميس على خلفية الاحتجاجات العنيفة والدموية المتصاعدة التي تشهدها العديد من المدن العراقية بينها العاصمة.
ويتدفق الإيرانيون على العراق لإحياء مراسم زيارة أربعين الحسين المقررة في 20 أكتوبر/ تشرين الأول الجاري.
ودعت وزارة الخارجية الإيرانية، الخميس، مواطنيها الذين يريدون السفر إلى العراق، لتأجيل سفرهم؛ بسبب الاحتجاجات التي تعم المدن العراقية.
من جانب آخر، دعا كل من الرئيس العراقي برهم صالح، ورئيس البرلمان محمد الحلبوسي، الجمعة، إلى تجنب العنف وحفظ الأمن، خلال الاحتجاجات العنيفة التي تشهدها البلاد منذ أيام.
وأكد الرئيسان خلال اجتماع عقداه في مكتب رئاسة الجمهورية بالعاصمة بغداد، على ضرورة وضع خطة لتحسين الخدمات ومحاربة الفساد، وفق وكالة الأنباء الرسمية.
وأكد الجانبان على "ضرورة المباشرة بخطة عمل تتعلق بالواقع الخدمي، واتخاذ إجراءات صارمة لمكافحة الفساد".

كما شددا على "أهمية حفظ الأمن المجتمعي، ونبذ العنف وسلامة المتظاهرين والقوات الأمنية".
العالم يصرخ ضد اراقة دماء الشعب العراقي
طالبت منظمة "العفو" الدولية اليوم الجمعة، السلطات العراقية بإجراء تحقق "حيادي ومستقل" في حوادث قتل متظاهرين على يد الأمن.
وقالت لين معلوف، مديرة أبحاث الشرق الأوسط في منظمة العفو: "من المهم أن تضمن السلطات إجراء تحقيق مستقل وحيادي بالكامل في استخدام قوات الأمن للقوة التي لا داعي لها أو المفرطة؛ مما أدى إلى الوفاة المأساوية للعديد من المحتجين، وإصابة عشرات آخرين بجروح".
وأكدت معلوف، في بيان للمنظمة، على أنه "يجب على الدولة العراقية أن تلتزم بمحاسبة المسؤولين" عن قتل المتظاهرين، "ويجب ألا تكون هذه حالة أخرى من الحالات التي تعلن فيها الحكومة عن إجراء تحقيق أو تشكيل لجنة تحقيق، لا تسفران عن أي نتائج".
ومنذ الثلاثاء الماضي، شهد العراق احتجاجات عنيفة في العاصمة بغداد ومحافظات جنوبية، رفع فيها المحتجون لافتات مطالبة بتحسين الأوضاع المعيشية، ومكافحة الفساد وتوفير فرص عمل.
كما رفع محتجون مطالبات بإسقاط الحكومة برئاسة عادل عبد المهدي.

وتصدت قوات عراقية للمحتجين وأطلقت عليهم الرصاص الحي، ومنذ الثلاثاء وحتى اليوم سقط 44 قتيلا بالرصاص، فيما أصيب المئات بجروح مختلفة.
