President Donald Trump on Monday accused Iran of destabilizing the Middle East at a White House meeting attended by members of the UN Security Council and the US National Security Council.
Trump said there was "a lot of work to be done", including "Iran's destabilizing activities."
US Ambassador to the United Nations Nicky Hailey earlier on Monday escorted the Security Council delegation to a military base in Washington for exposure to the wreckage of an Iranian missile said to have been fired from Yemen on Saudi soil by Huthi gunmen.
"We see how evidence accumulates that Iran is shamelessly ignoring its international commitments," Hayley said.
"The Iranian aggression is not only a threat to the neighbors, but to the whole world."
According to US officials, the metal wreckage belonged to a rocket fired by the Houthis in November 2017 and crashed near an airport in Riyadh.
The Trump administration is trying to persuade the United Nations to act against Iran, especially by imposing sanctions on its missile program.

اتهم الرئيس دونالد ترامب الاثنين إيران بزعزعة استقرار الشرق الأوسط، وذلك خلال اجتماع بالبيت الأبيض شارك فيه أعضاء بمجلس الأمن الدولي ومجلس الأمن القومي الأميركي.
وقال ترامب إن هناك "الكثير من العمل الذي ينتظر إنجازا"، وعدد أهدافا منها التصدي "لأنشطة زعزعة الاستقرار الإيرانية".
وكانت السفيرة الأميركية في الأمم المتحدة نيكي هايلي رافقت في وقت سابق الاثنين وفد مجلس الأمن إلى قاعدة عسكرية بواشنطن لتعرض لهم حطام صاروخ إيراني قالت إنه أطلق من اليمن على الأراضي السعودية من قبل مسلحين حوثيين.
وأوضحت هايلي: "نرى كيف تتكدس الإثباتات على أن إيران تتجاهل بشكل وقح تعهداتها الدولية".
وأضافت أن "العدوان الإيراني ليس فقط تهديدا للجيران بل للعالم بأسره".
وبحسب مسؤولين أميركيين فإن الحطام المعدني يعود لصاروخ أطلقه الحوثيون في تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2017 وتحطم قرب مطار بالرياض.
وتسعى إدارة ترامب إلى إقناع الأمم المتحدة بالتحرك ضد إيران خصوصا من خلال فرض عقوبات على برنامجها الصاروخي.
