The US Army awarded the medal to three students who died in last week's armed attack on a school in Florida that killed 17 people.
A military spokesman said the medal was given to students Alena Petti, 14, Peter Wang, 15, and Martin Dock, 13, who were part of the JROTC military training program at the school they spent.
The army said in a statement that they had achieved a remarkable achievement, and showed great courage.
The Betty family received the medal at its funeral, which was attended by about 1,500 people on Monday, while the Wang family received it on Tuesday and is due to be given to the Duke family on Saturday during his funeral.
Fox said Wang, dressed in uniform for the military program, showed his heroism when he helped students and teachers escape the shooter.

One colleague pointed out that he was holding onto a door to allow others to run away quickly. CNN said he was shot several times.
The West Point Military Academy of America announced Wang's acceptance of him after his death in recognition of his courage.
Florida Governor Rick Scott said in a terse statement that he had instructed the Florida National Guard to honor the three students and attend their funerals:

منح الجيش الأميركي وسام البطولة لثلاثة طلاب قضوا في الهجوم المسلح الذي وقع الأسبوع الماضي على مدرسة بولاية فلوريدا، وأسفر عن مصرع 17 شخصا.
