The President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, affirmed that Lebanon is a cosmopolitan homeland, noting that it is no accident that there are Lebanese in the lands of alienation, alongside them a section of the Armenian people.
President Aoun called on the members of the Lebanese community in Armenia to preserve their culture and traditions, because Lebanon is enriching its diversity culturally, scientifically and in various fields.
He pointed out that Lebanon and Armenia are countries of immigration and not only my country of settlement, and this strengthened the bonds of friendship and national feeling between the Lebanese and Armenian peoples.
President Aoun's speech came during a reception hosted by the Ambassador of Lebanon in Armenia, Maya Dagher, in honor of the President and the accompanying delegation at the residence of the RADISSON BLU Hotel in the Armenian capital of Yerevan.

The ceremony was initiated by the Armenian and Lebanese national anthems. Ambassador Dagher then made the following statement:
It is a great honor, a few weeks after I received my duties in this friendly country, to be with the Lebanese community today in the presence of His Excellency President Michel Aoun and the accompanying delegation on the occasion of his first official visit to the Republic of Armenia.
Lebanon and Armenia have a rich history of distinguished relations and strong friendship. The Lebanese of Armenian origin have a valuable contribution to the building of the Lebanese State, the development of political, cultural and educational life and the revitalization of the economic wheel over the decades. I am proud of what I have seen in Armenia since my arrival in various circles and from all officials in the presence of the Lebanese community in Armenian society, their contributions, their activities and their active role in the various sectors and disciplines. I look forward to more cooperation together to always be the best picture of Lebanon.
Lebanon has an important stage. The entitlements are numerous and the challenges are great, but Lebanon always derives its confidence, its steadfastness and its continuity from the friendly countries around it and the faith of its people at home as well as in the countries of proliferation and republication.

أكد رئيس الجمهورية العماد ميشال عون إن لبنان وطن كوني، مشيراً الى أنه ليست صدفة أنه حيث يوجد لبنانيون في ديار الاغتراب يكون الى جانبهم قسم من الشعب الارمني.
ودعا الرئيس عون افراد الجالية اللبنانية في ارمينيا الى المحافظة على ثقافتهم وتقاليدهم، لأن لبنان يغتني بتعدديته ثقافياً وعلمياً وفي مختلف المجالات.
ولفت الى ان لبنان وارمينيا هما بلدا هجرة وليسا فقط بلدي استيطان، وهذا ما عزز أواصر الصداقة والشعور الوطني بين الشعبين اللبناني والارميني.
كلام الرئيس عون جاء خلال حفل استقبال اقامته مساء اليوم سفيرة لبنان في ارمينيا مايا داغر على شرف رئيس الجمهورية والوفد المرافق، في مقر الاقامة في فندق RADISSON BLU في العاصمة الارمنية "يريفان".

وكان الحفل استهل بالنشيدين الوطنيين الارميني واللبناني، ثم القت السفيرة داغر الكلمة الاتية:
إنه لشرف كبير، بعد أسابيع معدودة على استلامي مهامي في هذا البلد الصديق، أن أكون اليوم مع الجالية اللبنانية في استقبال فخامة رئيس الجمهورية العماد ميشال عون والوفد المرافق بمناسبة زيارته الرسمية الأولى إلى جمهورية أرمينيا.
بين لبنان وأرمينيا تاريخ غني من العلاقات المميزة والصداقة المتينة شعباً ودولة، وإن للبنانيين من أصل أرمني مشاركة قيّمة في بناء الدولة اللبنانية وتطوير الحياة السياسية والثقافية والتربوية وتنشيط العجلة الاقتصادية على مرّ العقود. وإنني أعتز بما لمسته في أرمينيا منذ وصولي في مختلف الأوساط ومن المسؤولين كافة من حضور للجالية اللبنانية في المجتمع الأرمني ومساهماتهم ونشاطاتهم ودورهم الفاعل في مختلف القطاعات والاختصاصات، وإنني أتطلع إلى مزيد من التعاون معا لنكون دائمًا الصورة الفضلى عن لبنان النموذج والرسالة.
يعيش لبنان اليوم مرحلة مهمة، فالاستحقاقات عديدة والتحديات كبيرة، لكن لبنان يستمدّ دوماً ثقته وصلابته واستمراريته من التفاف الدول الصديقة حوله ومن إيمان أبنائه في الداخل كما في بلدان الانتشار بالجمهورية وبدولة المؤسسات.
أشكركم على حضوركم بهذا الجمع الواسع، وأترك الكلمة لصاحب الكلمة، فخامة رئيس الجمهورية العماد ميشال عون، 
عاشت الصداقة اللبنانية الأرمنية،
عشتم، 
عاش لبنان".

ثم القى الرئيس عون الكلمة الآتية:
"احبائي واصدقائي، إن هذا اللقاء بالنسبة لي جميل جداً واصبح تقليداً عند زيارتي لأي دولة ان التقي بالجالية اللبنانية. إن انتشاركم كبير وفي العالم كله، مما دفعني أن اقول يوماً إن لبنان هو وطن كوني. وليست صدفة أنه حيث يوجد لبنانيون في ديار الاغتراب يكون الى جانبهم قسم من الشعب الارمني، لأن بلدينا هما بلدا هجرة وليسا فقط بلدي استيطان، وهذا ما عزز أواصر الصداقة والشعور الوطني بين الشعبين اللبناني والارميني. وآمل أن تستمر هذه اللقاءات، وأنا أدعوكم الى الذهاب الى بيروت والمشاركة في الانتخابات النيابية. وهذا ما يجعلنا نشعر، عبر التواصل بيننا وبين اللبنانيين من اصل أرمني وكأننا نعيش في وطن واحد، خصوصاً وأن المسافة بين لبنان وأرمينيا ليست ببعيدة."
وأضاف:" إن ذكرياتي مع اللبنانيين من أصل ارمني تبدأ منذ ايام الدراسة، ومن ثم في الجيش حيث كنا اخوة في السلاح، وفي السياسة أيضاً، نحن نجلس مع بعضنا البعض ونشكل تكتلاً واحداً. وأنا اشعر اليوم أنني موجود في بيروت، او في أي مكان يوجد فيه لبنانيون بكثافة". وتوجّه الى افراد الجالية بالقول":لنبقى محافظين على هذه الصداقة ولا تنسوا زيارة لبنان. وإنني اعبر عن محبتي لكم وتذكروا أنكم لبنانيون، فحافظوا على ثقافتكم وتقاليدكم، لأن لبنان يغتني بتعدديته ثقافياً وعلمياً وفي مختلف المجالات، وكان لكم الدور الفاعل في المساهمة ببناء لبنان. وأهلا وسهلا بكم دائماً. عشتم وعاشت ارمينيا وعاش لبنان".
ويواصل رئيس الجمهورية غداً زيارته الرسمية الى ارمينيا حيث يلتقي رئيس الجمهورية سيرج سركيسيان، ورئيس مجلس النواب آرا بابلويان، ورئيس مجلس الوزراء غارين غارابتيان
