Among the soldiers who have completed the hard work of the Israel Defense Forces in recent days, there is a soldier with an interesting story. Felix Magnusen, a Swedish-born soldier, lived with his family for nearly three years in Dubai and had to hide his Jewish identity for fear of the real danger to his life.
Felix lived in his youth in different parts of the world, because of his father's work. Five years ago his family moved to Dubai, where Felix learned at an American school, without anyone knowing that he was a Jew. But before the family left Dubai, Felix revealed his identity to a few of his school friends about his Jewish origins. "I will never go back to Dubai, even though I have learned in an American school and lived a good life," he told Israel Today.
About three years ago, the family left Dubai for Sweden. Two years later, Felix decided to immigrate to Israel and join the IDF's combat service. "My grandfather was born in Budapest and survived after he was in the ghetto in World War II, when he was my day." I feel that military service is an expression of my solidarity with the past of my grandfather's Jews and our ability to preserve ourselves An expression of this solidarity, "Felix said.
Today Felix lives with three other soldiers in Herzlia, and he is happy with his decision to join the army and is happy to follow him.

من بين الجنود الذين أنهوا التدريبات الشاقة في سلاح المشاه الإسرائيلي في الأيام الأخيرة، هناك جندي لديه قصة مثيرة للاهتمام. عاش جندي يدعى فيليكس مغنوسن، من مواليد السويد، مع عائلته لمدة نحو ثلاث سنوات في دبي، واضطر إلى إخفاء هويّته اليهودية خشية من الخطر الحقيقي على حياته.
عاش فيليكس في شبابه في مناطق مختلفة في العالم، بسبب عمل والده. فقبل نحو خمس سنوات انتقلت عائلته للعيش في دبي، إذ تعلم فيها فيليكس في مدرسة أمريكية، دون أن يعرف أحد أنه يهودي. ولكن قبل أن تغادر العائلة دبي، كشف فيليكس عن هويته أمام عدد قليل من أصدقائه في المدرسة عن أصوله اليهودية. "لن أعود إلى دبي أبدا، رغم أني تعلمت في مدرسة أمريكية، وعشت حياة جيدة. لا يوجد في دبي كنيس ولا مدرسة لتعليم العبريّة، وكان هذا النقص بارزا"، قال فيليكس لصحيفة "إسرائيل اليوم".
قبل نحو ثلاث سنوات، غادرت العائلة دبي متجهة إلى السويد، وبعد عامين من ذلك قرر فيليكس الهجرة إلى إسرائيل والالتحاق بالخدمة القتالية في الجيش الإسرائيلي. "وُلد جدي في بودابست، ونجا بعد أن كان في الغيتو في الحرب العالمية الثانية، عندما كان في عمري اليوم. أثرت هذه الحقيقة فيّ كثيرا. أشعر أن الخدمة العسكرية تشكل تعبيرا عن تضمامني مع ماضي اليهود الذي عاشه جدي، وتشكل قدرتنا على الحفاظ على أنفسنا تعبيرا لهذا التضامن"، قال فيليكس.

يعيش اليوم فيليكس مع ثلاثة جنود آخرين في هرتسليا، وقال إنه سعيد بقراره للالتحاق بالجيش وفرح بمتابعه.
