On the occasion of the Israeli Family Day, the Central Bureau of Statistics released on Wednesday the birth data and the most common birth names in Israel for 2016.
The name "Youssef" was the most common name of Arab and Jewish children born in 2016, naming 1.934 children by that name. This name ranked second in the list of the names of the most common boys, while the name "Mohammed" ranked first conservative since the past years.
This was the second year in a row that the name "Noam" was the most common name among Jewish boys, while the name "Tamar" was the most common among Jewish girls, after the name was "kind" the most popular for 16 years.

بمناسبة يوم العائلة الإسرائيلي، نشرت دائرة الإحصاء المركزية، أمس (الأربعاء)، معطيات الولادة والأسماء الأكثر شيوعا في إسرائيل لعام 2016.
كان اسم "يوسف" الأكثر شيوعا لدى الأطفال العرب واليهود المولودين في عام 2016، إذ سُمي 1.934 طفلا بهذا الاسم. احتل هذا الاسم المرتبة الثانية في قائمة أسماء البنين الأكثر شيوعا، في حين احتل اسم "محمد" المرتبة الأولى محافظا عليها منذ السنوات الماضية.
هذه هي السنة الثانية على التوالي التي كان فيها الاسم "نوعام" الأكثر شيوعا لدى البنين اليهود، في حين كان اسم "تمار" الأكثر شيوعا بين البنات اليهوديات، وهذا بعد أن كان الاسم "نوعاه" الأكثر شعبية طيلة 16 عاما.
أما لدى المسلمين فيدعى كل واحد من بين خمسة أطفال مسلمين محمد أو أحمد. بالتباين ظل اسم مريم الاسم الأكثر انتشارا بين البنات المسلمات.
