US President Donald Trump on Monday expressed his satisfaction at the historic meeting he held with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland. The president said in a televised interview with Fox News that he and Putin discussed several issues related to economy, security, nuclear danger and the Middle East.
Trump said he had talked to the Russian president about the Middle East and Israel, and said Putin was very confident of Israel and very impressed with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"We have reached good conclusions about Israel. "He is a great believer in Israel and very impressed with my boy," Trump told Fox News. "He is very helpful and will continue to help. This is good for everyone. "
The US president said that the relations between the two countries were very damaged following the accusation of intelligence and political bodies in America and Russia to intervene in the US elections. He said he was convinced that Russia had not interfered in the elections and that Putin believed more in this regard than FBI investigators.
Trump and Putin spoke at a joint press conference and expressed their readiness to continue to support the cease-fire signed between Israel and Syria in 1974. Putin said at the conference that respect for the agreement would help calm the situation on the Golan Heights. Trump stressed that America and Russia agreed on helping Israel to defend itself.
