America scientists discover 1 billion tons of diamonds
US scientists believe that more than quadrillion tons of scattered diamonds are found underground, according to Sky News.
Scientists said they found billions of tons of this precious stone in a plate found in the ground, at a depth of 160 kilometers.
They found that if they did, the large amount of diamonds would make it cheaper than the dirt, pointing out that Quadrillion is worth a million.
These results were obtained using seismic sensors and instruments and the velocity of mobile sound waves across the Earth's crust.
Ulrich Ful, a research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, explained that one of the characteristics of diamonds is the speed at which sound waves travel through this stone.
"The velocity of sound in diamonds is more than twice the speed in dominant metals in the mantle, such as olivine (olefin)," he said.
