Sudanese Foreign Ministry describes Eritrean accusations as fabricated and groundless

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its deep surprise at the press release issued by the Eritrean Ministry of Information on March 23, 2018, in which it accused the Government of Sudan of receiving foreign military assistance to counter a possible Eritrean attack on Sudan. The statement also made other allegations, such as allowing the Eritrean Islamic opposition group Mohammed Jumaa to conduct political and military activities, opening an office in Kassala and setting up training camps for its elements near the border.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that the allegations made by the Eritrean Ministry of Information are baseless. Remember that Kassala is open to all, including the diplomatic presence in Sudan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reiterates the commitment of the Government of the Sudan to pursue a policy of good neighborliness and non-interference in internal affairs in its relations with neighboring countries and brotherly and friendly countries, which it has built on the basis of mutual respect and observance of international law and norms.
The Ministry reaffirms that Sudan continues to be an active player in efforts to achieve security and stability in the region, with the testimony of its neighbors, the United Nations and international and regional partners.

تعرب وزارة الخارجية عن استغرابها الشديد إزاء التصريح الصحفي الصادر عن وزارة الإعلام الإريترية يوم 23 مارس 2018م الذي اتهمت فيه حكومة السودان بتلقي مساعدات عسكرية خارجية للتصدي لهجوم إريتري مرتقب على السودان. كما ساق التصريح ادعاءات أخرى كالسماح لجماعة المعارض الإسلامي الإريتري محمد جمعة بممارسة أنشطة سياسية وعسكرية وفتح مكتب لها بمدينة كسلا وإنشاء معسكرات تدريب لعناصرها قرب الحدود.
تؤكد وزارة الخارجية أن ما صدر عن وزارة الإعلام الإريترية اتهامات ملفقة لا أساس لها من الصحة. وتذكر بأن كسلا مدينة مفتوحة للجميع بما في ذلك الوجود الدبلوماسي المعتمد بالسودان.
كما تجدد وزارة الخارجية التزام حكومة السودان التام بانتهاج سياسة حسن الجوار وعدم التدخل في الشئون الداخلية في تعاملها مع دول الجوار والدول الشقيقة والصديقة، والتي بنتها على أساس الاحترام المتبادل، ومراعاة القانون والأعراف الدولية.
وتعيد الوزارة التأكيد علي استمرار السودان طرفا فاعلا في جهود تحقيق الأمن والاستقرار في الإقليم ، وذلك بشهادة جيرانه والأمم المتحدة والشركاء الدوليين والإقليميين.
