Saudi air defense intercepts missile over Riyadh
Saudi air defense forces intercepted a rocket over the capital Riyadh late on Sunday in what appeared to be a Houthi attack coinciding with the third anniversary of the Saudi-led alliance's attacks on Yemen, state media said.
Witnesses said they heard a loud explosion and saw flames in the sky over the capital, but there were no reports of casualties.
According to the Saba news agency of the Huthi movement, the blast targeted the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh with a rocket type of volcano H2.
"The Huthis also fired rockets at airports in Abha, Jizan and Najran, southern Saudi Arabia," Saba said.
More than 10,000 people have been killed in Yemen since March 2015 when Saudi Arabia and a number of Sunni Arab countries launched a military campaign against the Huthis, who seized control of the Yemeni capital Sanaa and forced President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi to flee.

اعترضت قوات الدفاع الجوي السعودي صاروخا فوق العاصمة الرياض في ساعة متأخرة من الأحد، في ما يبدو أنه هجوم للحوثيين يتزامن مع الذكرى الثالثة لبدء هجمات التحالف بقيادة االسعودية على اليمن، وذلك حسبما قالت وسائل الإعلام الرسمية.
وقال شهود إنهم سمعوا انفجارا مدويا ورأوا لهبا في فوق سماء العاصمة، ولكن لم ترد تقارير عن وقوع إصابات.
وقالت وكالة أنباء سبأ، التابعة للحركة الحوثية، إن الانفجار استهدف مطار الملك خالد الدولي في الرياض بصاروخ من طراز بركان H2.
وقالت سبأ أيضا إن "الحوثيين أيضا أطلقوا صواريخ على مطارات مدن أبها وجيزان ونجران جنوبي السعودية".
وقتل أكثر من 10 آلاف شخص في اليمن منذ مارس/آذار 2015 عندما شنت السعودية وعدد من الدول العربية السنية حملة عسكرية ضد الحوثيين، الذين فرضوا سيطرتهم على العاصمة اليمنية صنعاء وأجبرت الرئيس عبد ربه منصور هادي على الفرار.
