How does Israel prepare for the "Great March of Return"?

In the few days before the start of the largest Palestinian march in recent years, known as the "Great March of Return," its features are still unclear to most observers. As Israel dedicates its efforts to preparing for the upcoming "Land Day" on the eve of the Jewish Passover holiday, the Palestinians are preparing for a march that may last for at least a few weeks, until Nakba Day, May 15, 2018 or more.
Hamas and the other organizations that lead the march hope that a large crowd will participate and reach the separation wall between Israel and Gaza. At first, there were expectations that the march would turn into a "million," but so far there seems to be little willingness on the part of the Palestinians to participate, so Hamas has retreated from the "million march" and is talking about the participation of 100,000 Palestinians.
It should be noted that, despite the efforts made in the campaign for the march, social networks and traditional media channels, the campaign does not appear to be "very successful", but the situation may change soon from Friday. The Facebook page dedicated to the march has so far attracted only a few thousand followers, and those who monitor activities in social networks note that there is limited footing on the part of young people.
On the other hand, Israel is not risking and preparing for the event, and perhaps it is achieving an undesirable goal to exaggerate the threats. Many soldiers received instructions prohibiting them from going to the Jewish Passover holiday and being forced to stay in the barracks. The army will also deploy snipers along the border, and intelligence will be on standby.
 Preparations for the march by the Palestinians are not limited to the Gaza Strip alone, and a march is planned in the West Bank towards the points of clashes and crossings after Friday prayers, and of course within Israel and in Jerusalem.
For example, Ofer Mendelovitch, the father of an Israeli soldier who was killed in the war with Hamas in the Shajaiya neighborhood of Gaza, proposed a proposal appealing to Gaza residents who are moving towards the wall to join the army. To Israeli peace activists and to participate with them in peaceful marches.

في الأيام القليلة قبل بدء المسيرة الفلسطينية الأكبر في السنوات الماضية، المعروفة باسم "مسيرة العودة الكبرى"، ما زالت ملامحها غير واضحة لمعظم المراقبين. ففي حين تكرس إسرائيل جهودها استعدادا ليوم الجمعة القريب "يوم الأرض" الذي يصادف في عشية عيد الفصح اليهودي، يستعد الفلسطينيون لمسيرة قد تمتد لبضعة أسابيع على الأقل، حتى "يوم النكبة" الذي يصادف بتاريخ 15 أيار 2018 أو أكثر.

تأمل حماس والمنظمات الأخرى التي ترأس المسيرة أن يشارك فيها حشد كبير وأن يصل إلى جدار الفصل بين إسرائيل وغزة. في البداية، كانت هناك توقعات أن تتحول المسيرة إلى "مليونية" ولكن حتى الآن يبدو أنه ليس هناك استعداد كبير لدى الفلسطينيين للمشاركة، لهذا تراجعت حماس عن "مسيرة المليون" وباتت تتحدث عن مشاركة 100 ألف فلسطيني.

تجدر الإشارة إلى أنه حتى الآن رغم الجهود المبذولة في الحملة الخاصة بالمسيرة، شبكات التواصل الاجتماعي، والقنوات الإعلامية التقليدية، يبدو أن الحملة لا "تحقق" نجاحا كبيرا، ولكن قد يتغير الوضع قريبا من يوم الجمعة. ففي صفحة الفيس بوك المخصصة للمسيرة شارك حتى الآن بعض آلاف المتابعين فقط، ومن يراقب النشاطات في شبكات التواصل الاجتماعي يلاحظ إلى أن هناك إقدام محدود من جهة الشبان.

بالمُقابل، إسرائيل لا تخاطر وتستعد للحدث وربما أنها تحقق هدفا ليس مرغوبا فيه للمبالغة بحدة التهديدات. فقد تلقى جنود كثيرون تعليمات تحظر عليهم الخروج إلى عطلة عيد الفصح اليهودي وتفرض عليهم البقاء في الثكنات. كما سينشر الجيش قناصون على طول الحدود، وستكون الاستخبارات على أهبة الاستعداد.

 لا تقتصر الاستعدادات للمسيرة من جانب الفلسطينيين على قطاع غزة فحسب، ومن المخطط إجراء مسيرة في الضفة الغربية باتجاه نقاط الاشتباكات والمعابر بعد صلاة يوم الجمعة، وطبعا داخل إسرائيل وفي القدس.

ونشر المتحدث باسم الجيش الإسرائيلي بالعربية، أفيحاي أدرعي، مقطع فيديو تحذيريا للفلسطينيين، ولكن هناك مبادرات أخرى، مثلا، اقترح عوفر مندلوفيتش، والد جندي إسرائيلي قُتِل في الحرب مع حماس في حي الشجاعية في غزة اقتراحا مناشدا فيه سكان غزة الذين يتجهون نحو الجدار أن ينضموا إلى نشطاء سلام إسرائيليين ويشاركوا معهم في مسيرات سلمية.
