Sudan is hosting more than 3 million refugees, representing more than 10 percent of Sudan's population, Sudanese Vice President Habbo Mohammed Abdul Rahman said on Monday. He accused the international community of double support for host countries, especially Sudan.
During his speech at the forum, Abdul Rahman stressed Sudan's commitment to hosting refugees and providing them with protection from a religious and moral point of view, criticizing the international community's double dealing in support of host countries, especially Sudan. National and international, "with the participation of the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Refugee Authority, the Humanitarian Aid Commission and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
He said he had spoken to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and a number of donors that the support provided to the Sudan did not meet all the requirements for education, health, water and others.
Al-Bashir acknowledged that Sudan faces special challenges in the process of illegal immigration, human trafficking, drugs and cross-border crimes. He called on the Ministry of Interior to monitor and register the refugees so that the government can protect them.
"If there are places where they can meet, we can reduce the pressure on the state until their country settles," he said.
According to the Sudanese refugee agency, the percentage of male refugees is 45%, while females are 55%. The Eritreans represent 18.32% of the refugees compared to 2.78% of those coming from Ethiopia, Chadians 1.39%, Central Africa. , 35%, Southern Sudan 74.90%, Syrians 1.66%, Yemenis 0.34%.
He confirmed the refugees Hamad al-Jazuli that the Sudan hosts one million and 300 thousand refugees from South Sudan registered 845 thousand, pointing out that 70% of asylum seekers are women and children.
He said that Sudan adopts the policy of open door to receive refugees through the axis of commitment to religious and social traditions based on solidarity and relief of the tenant, and abide by international and regional laws and the resettlement of refugees away from the border and help them to rely on themselves.
For her part, the High Commissioner for Refugees in Sudan Noriko Yoshida said that 100,000 refugees from the state of Eritrea in eastern Sudan need to solve their problems quickly.
She added that the presence of refugees puts pressure on the services provided to the citizens who shared resources with them and stressed that UNHCR is working with Sudan and partners to provide the necessary support to Sudan so that it can provide services to refugees.
She pointed out that the funding does not exceed 35% of the actual services attributed to the suffering of some families not to send children to school because of the lack of money.
