I made a commitment to the British people that I would get our Armed Forces out of Afghanistan by 2015 - and today sees the end of our combat operations in the country.
The sacrifice and bravery of our Armed Forces has given Afghanistan the best possible chance of a stable future, laid the foundations for a strong Afghan security force, and stopped the country being used as a launch pad for terrorist attacks into the UK.
We will always remember the courage of those who served there on our behalf and never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice
