Ethiopia asks France to mediate the Eritrean-Eritrean dispute
Ethiopian Prime Minister Abe Ahmed on Monday met French President Manuel McCron in Paris as part of an official visit to France. During the joint meeting, the Ethiopian prime minister asked the French president to mediate to resolve the dispute between Djibouti and Eritrea. For his part, President Manuel McCron promised to contact the Eritrean and Djibouti presidents next week
Ethiopia is making serious efforts to resolve the Eritrean-Djibouti dispute before discussing Eritrea's sanctions on the UN Security Council in December. Djibouti is still opposed to the lifting of international sanctions against Eritrea unless it publishes full information on the conditions of the Djiboutian prisoners of war held in Eritrea and unless it takes concrete steps to resolve the border dispute between the two countries
On the other hand, the French president will pay an official visit to Addis Ababa early next year
