What is behind the exercise of the "Pearl of the West 2018" and Kuwait asked for a permanent British presence
The Kuwaiti army announced on Monday the arrival of the first French troops to participate in the "Pearl of the West 2018", scheduled for the period from 11 to 30 November.
The French army said in a statement that the influx of French troops participating in the exercise will continue in the coming days until completion, without mentioning the number of these forces.
He added that the exercise, held in cooperation with French forces in its sixth edition, is the largest series of exercises "Pearl of the West" since 1996, which is implemented by the Kuwaiti army, and with the participation of the National Guard (security forces)
The statement pointed out that the exercise aims to enhance military capabilities and skills through training and joint teamwork to raise the performance and efficiency of the ground, air and naval forces.
He pointed out that the exercise contributes to the improvement of the general level of participants, as well as exchange and acquisition of expertise in the field of management of joint operations.
The "Pearl of the West" exercise consists of a series of joint exercises of land, air and sea in cooperation with the French side; while the first exercise between the two parties was launched in 2004 under the same name according to a treaty signed between them, according to the newspaper "Rai" local.
Ritania is studying a permanent military presence in Kuwait

The British ambassador to Kuwait, Michael Davenport, said that a meeting will be held in December "to discuss both sides; operational and logistical, the permanent military presence of British forces in Kuwait."
Al-Rai newspaper reported on Sunday that the ambassador confirmed that a high-level meeting between the two sides was held in London last June as part of the meetings of the Joint Steering Committee at the Air Force Museum, and decided to form two joint groups to discuss the British permanent presence in Kuwait.
Davenport added: "After Kuwait joined the Security Council, there was close cooperation between Britain and Kuwait. He pointed out that during this year there have been several visits and high-level talks between the officials of the two countries, including the visit of the Minister of Defense to Kuwait in January, in addition to other ministers, and there was a meeting between the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister and his British counterpart in London last July.
The London Joint Steering Committee met last June at Lancaster House and the Royal Air Force Museum, the ambassador said, to mark the 100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force, in which Kuwait contributed "a generous donation of £ 5 million."
Davenport pointed out that there is a large military exercise called "Rapid Sword 3" currently underway between Oman and Britain in the Sultanate, the largest and most important military exercise between the two countries since 2001
The exercise, according to Davenport - the army, navy and air force - includes 5,500 British soldiers and 70,000 Omani armed forces. There will be other exercises at a smaller level in the Gulf states, including Kuwait
The ambassador said that there would be a "Desert Warrior" exercise in 2019 between the Kuwaiti and British forces, which would involve 120 British military, and there is cooperation between the Royal Navy and its Kuwaiti counterpart
He added that the cooperation with Kuwait is not limited to the military, but there is "bilateral cooperation in the development plan, which goes with the vision of 2035, and has many pillars, including health and the environment"
The British Ambassador concluded that there is cooperation with the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), as well as between the Kuwait Environment Authority and the British Environment, Fisheries and Marine Sciences Center

The confusion over the sudden siege of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt to the state of Qatar suggests that the differences between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries are deeper than those that appear on the surface, as the costly war in Yemen goes beyond the issue of legitimacy and the Gulf initiative to resolve issues related to control and influence. The news that the State of Kuwait is conducting military exercises with France and asked Britain for a permanent presence in Kuwait. It is known that Qatar from the danger of its neighbor has used Turkey, which has established a base in Qatar. The question that arises is whether the Gulf Cooperation Council is from the past. Has any initiative put forward by the Council on joint security, joint defense and the Gulf Shield ended? It seems that the Gulf states have entered a stage of competition and complicated complex competition

Trusting Liar (#5) Leave a reply

Trusting Liar (#5) Leave a reply Gertruida is the first to recover.  “Klasie… ?” “Ag drop the pretence, Gertruida. You all call me ‘Liar’ behind my back, so why stop now? Might as well be on the same page, yes?” Liar’s face is flushed with anger; the muscles in his thin neck prominently bulging. “That diamond belongs to me. Hand it over.” “What are you doing? Put away the gun…” “No! This…,” Liar sweeps his one hand towards the horizon, “…is my place.  Mine!   I earned it! And you…you have no right to be here!” “Listen, Liar, we’re not the enemy. Whoever is looking for you with the aeroplane and the chopper….well, it isn’t us. In fact, we were worried about you and that’s why we followed you. We’re here to help, man!” Vetfaan’s voice is pleading as he takes a step closer to the distraught man. “Now, put down the gun and let’s chat about all this.” Liar hesitates, taken aback after clearly being convinced that the group  had hostile intentions. “I…I’m not sure I believe
