Electronic breach of Pentagon travel records
The Pentagon said it was investigating an electronic breach of some of its travel records in a way that revealed personal information
Pentagon spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Bucheno said on Friday that some "personally identifiable information" had been breached after a "single contractor" site had been compromised
He added that the breach had only affected a small percentage of the staff and that the Pentagon was investigating
The military command was informed of the breach on 4 October
A federal government report last week said the Pentagon was slow to protect key weapon systems from cyber attacks and that it occasionally found critical weaknesses in those systems that hackers could exploit
