The work of the IGAD Summit on Southern Sudan, which Dr. Reak Machar met with President Salva Kiir, ended today (June 21st, 2018) in Addis Ababa.
It was decided to start the direct talks between the leaders of southern Sudan in Khartoum on June 25, under the auspices of President Omar Hassan Ahmed al-Bashir. The summit was announced by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abi Ahmed at the end of the summit.
Arrangements are under way to transfer IGAD's technical negotiating staff to Khartoum to provide support and support to President Bashir and the team of Sudanese mediators.
It also makes arrangements for the success of these negotiations and give them a new impetus, especially as they coincide with the launch of Sudan's efforts to rehabilitate the oil fields in southern Sudan in a field visit by the oil ministers of the two countries simultaneously with the start of the talks.
