German-French summit to contain the immigration crisis

German-French summit to contain the immigration crisis
Trump: America will not become a camp for immigrants
Paris: Michel Abongem
Chancellor Angela Merkel is to host French President Emmanuel Macaron at the Messeberg Palace, near Berlin, on a summit that is expected to be dominated by the massive migrations on European shores from the southern Mediterranean. Although the summit was originally intended to discuss EU reform plans and further integration into the euro zone, developments in the migrations file, whether at the European level or the crises caused by the Italian government, have made this explosive issue a top priority for officials Europeans. Since France and Germany historically constitute the so-called "engine" of the European Union, the proposals and decisions reached by Macron and Merkel today will have a great influence on the European summit to be held in Brussels on 28 and 29.
The French president met with Chancellor Merkel today with a lengthy telephone conversation with her yesterday to prepare for the summit. He also made a series of phone calls at the end of the week following a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte at the Elysee Palace on Friday. Makron, the head of the Libyan government of reconciliation, Faiz al-Sarraj and the presidents of Niger, Mali and other African leaders.
Paris is fond of "foresting" Merkel's position, which Macaron sought to support last Friday in her row with her interior minister and hardline faction in her government coalition. The two sides are united in their position to emphasize that the sole, possible and effective response to the crisis of asylum and migration "can only be collective and European," which the Elysee sources stressed yesterday in presenting the summit. The French sources added that the file will be presented to the next European summit and that the efforts of France and Germany aim to "put forward an agenda of European reforms integrated" is expected to provide treatment in the short term, but also in the medium and long term.
Paris is pushing towards a four-pronged approach to short-term treatment that is governed by an effort to be effective and maintain solidarity among European parties. The first part is to strengthen the protection and control of the EU's external borders, effectively strengthening the Frontex police force by increasing its numbers physically and logistically.
This device currently has about 1500 men and needs more human element. But it also needs a broader mandate that, for example, can access the territorial waters of countries to prevent the departure or return of migrants from their ports. To date, the powers of the Agency do not exceed the international waters and territorial waters of European countries, which is not enough to stop the flow of migrations. The second strand is to find "reception centers" in countries of origin and in the countries of the corridor to "sort out" refugees who are entitled to go to Europe, so asylum applications can be acceptable to so-called "economic migrants" seeking a better life.
In the same context, the two parties will agree to conclude agreements with the countries of origin and transit, in which migrants deported from European countries will be accepted so that they may receive them, which requires the conclusion of agreements. In the third place, the EU wants the EU to work together to harmonize the various asylum criteria, which, if it is reached, will facilitate the speedy handling and resolution of the files.
Paris and Berlin want to reaffirm the principle of burden sharing for those who accept European soil so that the refugees accepted in all European countries will be distributed, which is facing great difficulties from countries such as Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, which rejects it. In any case, the "countries of the parties" - those that are primarily vulnerable to the arrival of migrants and refugees such as Greece, Italy, Cyprus and Malta - insist on revisiting the so-called "Dublin Convention", which it strongly rejects. The first to reject today is Italy, which is run by an extreme right-wing populist government. The French presidential sources said it was important to reach agreement to review this agreement and to maintain the freedom of movement guaranteed by the Schengen Treaty and to refrain from individual measures and actions that would weaken Europe.
It is clear that Berlin and Paris can agree on these principles and measures. But reaching a European consensus on it will be very difficult at the summit expected by the end of this month, according to official French sources. There is no doubt that an Italian-Austrian-German "Axis" (interior minister) would reject the illegal immigration and pressure exerted by the extreme right on existing governments and the public opinion would make the migration file controversial for long periods of time.
What the European parties want, in all their different directions, is that immigrants stay where they are, whether in their country or in the countries where they arrived. The EU is ready to increase its economic and financial assistance.
But many economists believe that the rising standard of living in these countries will not ease the pressure of immigration, but will, on the contrary, increase it. In any case, it is expected that hundreds of thousands of refugees fleeing poverty, hunger, drought and war will continue to cross the doors of Europe, which so far seem unable to propose effective solutions.
Trump: The Germans turned on their leadership
> President Donald Trump on the debate in Germany about immigration, which threatens the fall of the ruling coalition, said yesterday on Twitter: "The people of Germany turned on his leadership." "The people of Germany turn on their leadership at a time when immigration is stirring unrest in the Berlin coalition," said the president, who takes a tough stance on immigration.
Already fragile. " "Crime in Germany is on the rise. A major mistake has been made across Europe by allowing millions of people who have changed their culture to come in a strong and violent way. " "We do not want what happens now with immigration in Europe to happen with us!" He wrote.

Trusting Liar (#5) Leave a reply

Trusting Liar (#5) Leave a reply Gertruida is the first to recover.  “Klasie… ?” “Ag drop the pretence, Gertruida. You all call me ‘Liar’ behind my back, so why stop now? Might as well be on the same page, yes?” Liar’s face is flushed with anger; the muscles in his thin neck prominently bulging. “That diamond belongs to me. Hand it over.” “What are you doing? Put away the gun…” “No! This…,” Liar sweeps his one hand towards the horizon, “…is my place.  Mine!   I earned it! And you…you have no right to be here!” “Listen, Liar, we’re not the enemy. Whoever is looking for you with the aeroplane and the chopper….well, it isn’t us. In fact, we were worried about you and that’s why we followed you. We’re here to help, man!” Vetfaan’s voice is pleading as he takes a step closer to the distraught man. “Now, put down the gun and let’s chat about all this.” Liar hesitates, taken aback after clearly being convinced that the group  had hostile intentions. “I…I’m ...
