Hafar forces announce control of Libyan oil crescent
Forces loyal to the martyr Khalifa Hafer on Monday announced the end of military operations to control the oil crescent in northeastern Libya.
"The oil fields and installations are under full control," said Ahmed Salem, the commander of the Crescent Petroleum Operations Room in the Hafar Brigade.
On June 14, armed groups led by Ibrahim al-Jadran attacked the Ras Lanuf and Sidra stations, two of the main sites used to export Libyan oil abroad.
Al-Jardan is the former head of the oil installations guard responsible for the security of the Crescent oil region. He managed to prevent the export of oil from this area for two years before being expelled by the Libyan National Army in 2016.
Hafar forces launched a military operation last Thursday to recover the oil crescent and expel al-Jadran, and within hours of the attack announced the restoration of control of the area, but made clear that the military operations are not over yet.
