TEHRAN, Iran (CNN) - Iranian naval vessels headed for the Bab al-Mandab and Gulf of Aden ports on Wednesday to "safeguard Iran's interests in the region," the semi-official Fars news agency reported.
The report said the naval divisions included "the Bushehr logistics frigate and the devastating destroyer, to provide security for Iranian shipping lines and to safeguard the interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran in free international waters."
"The mission of this naval group takes about three months," the report quoted the commander of the Iranian navy's naval force, Admiral Habibullah Sayari, as saying.

"The 33rd Marine Group of the Iranian Navy, which included the logistics frigate Bandarpas and the devastating destroyer, landed in Bandarpas yesterday at the end of its 80-day mission in the Indian Ocean and Southeast Asia," the report said.

The Iranian news agency Mehr reported that the Navy has announced the launch of the largest naval fleet to support the western Asia region, including the helicopter carrier "Khark" and the destroyer "Siblan" within the fleet of 54 military of the Iranian Navy. After four years of continuous efforts to rehabilitate the Khark helicopter carrier, experts and experts from the Iranian Navy have been able to launch the naval fleet, the agency said. She explained that the carrier "Khark" began its mission in a tour that will include the Gulf of Aden and northern Indian Ocean and the Straits of Bab al-Mandab accompanied by the destroyer "Siblan."
