Tourism in Sudan: forgotten resource
Dr.. Ali Mohamed Osman Al-Iraqi
Sudan has a wide spectrum of tourism resources, and is characterized by geographic diversity and rich attractions. It covers almost the entire country and can satisfy the motivations of all tourists, whether they seek culture, history, archeology, fun and relaxation in nature or adventure. These resources provide an important base for building an industry for tourism; an industry that takes advantage of tourism as an economic activity that can be summed up in
First, tourism is labor-intensive, its ability to generate jobs is large and growing, making it suitable for developing economies looking for sustainable solutions to unemployment.
Second: Tourism is characterized by its ability to move economic activities directly through the front and back and forward links and indirectly by the multiplier effect of spending the tourist multiplier effect. This is a key feature that makes a tourist destination a starting point for business projects.
Thirdly: The availability of rural tourism resources provides an opportunity for its development and improving the conditions of its inhabitants if it becomes a tourist destination.
Fourthly, tourism offers an opportunity to highlight the bright face of the country, which succeeds in the failure of dozens of articles and books, not the best experience of Ethiopia, which was portrayed in the world media until the nineties of the twentieth century that is the home of famine and conflict and poverty, and targeted tourism as a major sector only Her image has changed completely
Fifthly, tourism provides access to resources that can only be exploited and exploited through this route
These are just examples, and the benefits of tourism are many and varied, and with these opportunities available, the benefit of Sudan and its interest in this sector does not stop at the plantation of unprovoked surprise; we express our gratitude and astonishment if we see an article talking about the greatness of Sudanese civilization or images of sites that highlight the richness of nature and uniqueness, This is followed by surprise. And you have the right to admire dear reader and you see a country looking for an opportunity to renaissance and transformation and the hands of all these resources and all these features and does not move a finger
The lack of interest in the tourism sector and raising it to the refineries of the strategic sectors reflects the real crisis in the pattern of thinking. We are still dealing with the Sudanese economy and its challenges with the mentality of the sixties and seventies, so we see no specific sectors that do not exceed agriculture and some industrialization and we do not reject the rent station. Which makes us in the same station without interest in sectors with high capacity to achieve the launch as tourism
This is an invitation to put tourism as a strategic economic sector and to consider exploiting the available resources and employing them through the private sector, and targeting it as an industry and a major engine of growth in the country
