The Sultanate of Oman welcomes today, Sunday, the agreement to normalize relations between Bahrain and Israel

The government of the Sultanate of Oman welcomed, on Sunday, the agreement to normalize relations between Bahrain and Israel, announced on Friday, according to the official news agency and official TV.

"The Sultanate welcomes the initiative taken by the sister kingdom of Bahrain within the framework of its sovereign rights and the tripartite joint declaration on relations with Israel," it said in a tweet to the public channel.

The television added, "The Sultanate hopes that this new strategic approach, which has been chosen by some Arab countries, will be a practical tributary towards achieving peace based on ending the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and establishing an independent Palestine with its capital in East Jerusalem."

The Sultanate considered normalization an embodiment of the principle of "the two states as stipulated in Arab and international charters and decisions, and at the same time it reflects the aspirations and demands of all countries and peoples who love a just, comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East and in the whole world."

Bahrain became the second Gulf state to announce an agreement to normalize relations with Israel within a month, after it followed in the footsteps of its neighbor, the United Arab Emirates, which agreed to an agreement that the Palestinians considered a "betrayal" of their cause.

رحبت حكومة سلطنة عمان، الأحد، باتفاق تطبيع العلاقات بين البحرين وإسرائيل، المعلن عنه يوم الجمعة، وفق ما ذكرته وكالة الأنباء الرسمية والتلفزيون الرسمي.

و جاء في تغريدة للقناة العامة أن "السلطنة ترحب بالمبادرة التي اتخذتها مملكة البحرين الشقيقة في إطار حقوقها السيادية والإعلان الثلاثي المشترك حول العلاقات مع إسرائيل".

واضاف التلفزيون "تأمل السلطنة أن يكون هذا التوجه الاستراتيجي الجديد، الذي اختارته بعض الدول العربية، رافدا عمليا ينصب نحو تحقيق السلام المبني على إنهاء الاحتلال الإسرائيلي للأراضي الفلسطينية وقيام دولة فلسطين المستقلة بعاصمتها القدس الشرقية".

واعتبرت السلطنة التطبيع تجسيدا لمبدأ "الدولتين كما تنص عليه المواثيق والقرارات العربية والأممية ويعكس في نفس الوقت تطلعات ومطالب جميع الدول والشعوب المحبة للسلام العادل والشامل والدائم في الشرق الأوسط وفي العالم أجمع".

وأصبحت البحرين ثاني دولة خليجية تعلن اتفاقاً لتطبيع العلاقات مع إسرائيل في غضون شهر، بعدما سارت على خطى جارتها الإمارات العربية المتحدة التي وافقت على اتفاق اعتبره الفلسطينيون "خيانة" لقضيتهم.
