Egypt is preparing to use the means of transportation for the first time in the Middle East
The General Authority for Passenger Transport in Alexandria announced the arrival of the first electric-powered "bus" from China in preparation for entering the service on the Corniche Road "Ras Al Teen-Mandara".
Major General Khalid Aliywa, Chairman of the General Authority for Passenger Transport, visited the headquarters of the company "the bus" in China, to follow up the stages of manufacturing and ensure the feasibility of its operation in Alexandria, pointing out that it is scheduled to arrive next month.
Aliwa said that the "bus" one can accommodate 90 passengers, which is air-conditioned, and a tracking and "wifi" and a wheelchair for people with special needs in front of the back door.
He praised the new "bus" as a "zero pollution", pointing out that it does not produce noise and has no negative impact or audio or environmental pollution, as well as its price, which is almost equivalent to the price of gas "buses", estimated at 4 million pounds.
He added that the top speed of 80 km per hour, the engine capacity of "300 kW" equivalent to 430 horsepower, and the battery shipped from 3 to 4 hours, allowing him to walk 250 kilometers without operating the air conditioning and 210 kilometers in the case of operation of air conditioning.
The Passenger Transport Authority has signed a contract to supply 15 electric passenger buses with the Chinese company BYD, making Alexandria the first electric bus user in Egypt and the Middle East.
