Conclusion of the 29th Arab Summit
Dhahran, QNA, (SANA) - The 29th Ordinary Arab Summit, chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was held today in Dhahran, which discussed ways to enhance joint Arab action and address challenges and threats facing the Arab region.
The State of Qatar participated in the Summit with a delegation led by His Excellency Mr. Saif Bin Muqdal Al Buainain, Permanent Representative of Qatar to the League of Arab States.
The agenda of the summit included 18 items dealing with various Arab issues in the political, economic, social, security and other fields, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue, the Arab-Israeli conflict, the Israeli violations in the occupied city of Jerusalem, follow-up of the political developments of the Palestinian issue and activating the peace initiative. The occupied Syrian Arab Golan, and solidarity with and support for Lebanon.
The final statement of the summit stressed the importance of promoting joint Arab action based on a clear methodology and solid foundations that protect the nation from the dangers that beset it, safeguard security and stability and secure a bright and promising future that holds hope and prosperity for future generations.
The statement also stressed the centrality of the Palestinian cause to the entire Arab nation and the Arab identity of occupied East Jerusalem, the capital of the State of Palestine, pointing to the importance of a comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East as a strategic Arab option embodied in the Arab peace initiative. The capital of the Israeli entity, and the categorical rejection of it, where Jerusalem will remain the capital of Arab Palestine, warning against taking any measures that would change the legal and political status of Jerusalem, which will have repercussions on the entire Middle East.
The summit's final communiqué also condemned attempts to destabilize security, stir up sectarian strife, fuel sectarian conflicts and refuse to interfere in the internal affairs of Arab countries, as a violation of the principles of good neighborliness and the norms of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
The statement strongly condemned the Syrian regime's use of internationally banned chemical weapons against its people. He called on the international community to stand against these practices in order to achieve justice and implement international humanitarian law and to respond to the call of living conscience in the world, which rejects killing, violence, genocide and the use of prohibited weapons.
