Ahmaud Arbery: Victim of a Racist Lynching or an Unfortunate Incident? Rachel Alexander

Source: Courtesy of the Arbery Family Ahmaud Arbery: Victim of a Racist Lynching or an Unfortunate Incident? Rachel Alexander It’s all over the news, two white guys shot a black man in Georgia while he was jogging because they thought he was a burglar. The racial aspect touched a nerve, which was compounded because Gregory McMichael and his son Travis McMichael took the law into their own hands. It looked like the Trayvon Martin fatal shooting all over again. And things got worse when more details started coming out. So is this a modern day racist lynching, as some like Al Sharpton are claiming, or is it merely an unfortunate situation? Now it’s too early to pass judgment, since the men are entitled to a jury trial in a court of law. We don’t know all of the facts yet. But we do know quite a few, and the main controversy seems to come down to the men’s decision to follow Armery. People were outraged that the men were not arrested right away. It took the release of a video of the

Forget About Seeing Any Justice For Obamagate Kurt SchlichterKurt

Forget About Seeing Any Justice For Obamagate Kurt  SchlichterKurt  Allow me to disabuse you of your naïve delusion that we still live in a country with a justice system and break it to you that no one is going to jail for what was done to Flynn, or for the unmasking business, or for the Russia hoax or, for that matter, for any of the corrupt Dem/foreigner collaborations exemplified by the payoffs received by stripperphile and Bolivian folk medicine enthusiast Hoover Biden. Well, maybe Mike Flynn himself will. Since his judge is now making up the law as he goes along – in law school they taught us that the judicial branch didn’t prosecute, but that was before the Trump Exception™ to existing principles – I actually expect that the next time the General shows up in court the judge will sentence him on his coerced plea to a “crime” that never happened and order the marshals to immediately take him into custody. And, as we have seen far too often since the advent of the bat biter blu

Trudeau makes Covid-19 aid intended to ‘save Canadian jobs’ conditional on meeting climate change goals

Trudeau makes Covid-19 aid intended to ‘save Canadian jobs’ conditional on meeting climate change goals RT | May 11, 2020 Adding insult to the injury of Covid-19 closures, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced that businesses seeking emergency payroll funding will have to demonstrate their compliance with ‘climate charge’ guidelines. Citing the need to protect “Canadian middle-class jobs and safeguard our economy,” Trudeau on Monday rolled out the expansion of the Large Employer Emergency Financing Facility (LEEFF), intended to provide bridge liquidity to companies unable to meet their payroll due to the shutdown. There is, of course, a catch. Among the standard safeguards listed in the government announcement – limits on stock buybacks, verification of a company’s tax status, protections for unions and pensions, among other things – there was this as well: “In addition, recipient companies would be required to commit to publish annual climate-related disclosure r

Sudan rejects an Ethiopian proposal to sign a partial agreement on the Renaissance Dam Sudan rejects an Ethiopian proposal to bridge the Renaissance .. An  international expert: Khartoum's position has changed and I do not rule out the escalation  Special - Washington May 12, 2020 The Sudanese Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources announced on Tuesday that Sudan rejected an Ethiopian proposal to sign a partial agreement on filling the Lake of the Renaissance Dam, which is expected to start next July, which sparked a reaction from experts in the file who considered the Sudanese response "a change in its position on the dam by one hundred percent." . In a written statement distributed to the media, the ministry said that Abdullah Hamdouk, Prime Minister, informed Abi Ahmed, the Ethiopian Prime Minister, in a letter in response to a letter from him related to the Ethiopian proposal. The statement added, "The signing of any partial agreement for the first s

How Israel is using Coronavirus and Trump Policy to further Annex Palestinian Sovereign Territory

How Israel is using Coronavirus and Trump Policy to further Annex Palestinian Sovereign Territory POSTED ON: MAY 6, 2020 By: John Mason/Arab America Contributing Writer The Coronavirus in Israel and the occupied territories combined with the machinations of Israeli politics, and the Trump administration-inspired culture wars between Democrats and Republicans over Palestinian sovereignty, represent a formidable obstacle to any sense of peace and tranquility in the region. News from the Arab Palestinian-Israel region in this period of Coronavirus is complicated. First, is the potential for an absolute demise of thousands of Palestinians by the virus due to the absence of health care solutions in the occupied territories. Second, is Prime Minister Netanyahu’s manipulation of the Israeli political system to ensure a far-right authoritarian government for years to come. And, third is the Trump administration’s dependence on the American Christian-right vote for his reelection based on

Environment minister George Eustice urged people to abide by the current rules to stay home Coronavirus lockdown: 'No dramatic overnight change' to restrictions The public has to be "realistic" about loosening of lockdown restrictions, the environment secretary has said. ‘We will overcome it’: Queen Elizabeth invokes WWII spirit amid coronavirus outbreak BY MICHAEL HOLDEN REUTERS Updated April 6, 2020 8:29 am Queen Elizabeth told the British people on Sunday that they would overcome the coronavirus outbreak if they stayed resolute in the face of lockdown and self-isolation, invoking the spirit of the Second World War in an extremely rare broadcast to the nation. In what was only the fifth televised address of her 68-year reign, Elizabeth called upon Britons to show the resolve of their forbears and demonstrate they were as strong as generations of the past. “Together we are tackling this disease, and I want to reassure you that if we remain united and resolute, then we will overcome it,” the 93-year-old monarch said in the address from her Windsor Castle home where she is staying with her husband Prince Philip, 98 “While we have faced challenges before, this one is different. This time we join with all nations across the globe in a common endea

After 5 years, Saudi Arabia is finally on the verge of defeat in Yemen by aletho By Omar Ahmed | MEMO | March 26, 2020 Exactly five years ago, the US-backed, Saudi-led Arab coalition carried out its first air strikes on Yemen in an effort to reinstate the disgraced, exiled President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi. He is a statesman in name only who I have argued previously has neither power, authority nor legitimacy. The strikes targeted the Houthi movement, which is supported by the Yemeni armed forces, and the war, claimed the Saudis, was supposed to be over in a matter of weeks. The war’s devastating effects have claimed over 112,000 lives and created the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. The steadfast and resilient Yemeni people have prevented the coalition from toppling the Houthi-aligned government in the capital, Sanaa. After five years, in fact, it is fair to say that the Saudis and their mercenaries are on the verge of defeat. The Yemeni armed forces and “popular committees” whi

March 2, 2020 WASHINGTON — She told the Fox News host Sean Hannity that refusing to celebrate President Trump’s America was “unforgivable” and tweeted angrily about the “ill-conceived” Senate impeachment trial. She recently took the stage for the first time at the Conservative Political Action Conference, a gathering of hard-core conservative activists. And now she is officially a Republican.
