Putin’s War -----------GILAD ATZMON

Putin’s War by aletho BY GILAD ATZMON | MARCH 13, 2022 Putin is not a military general. He is a modernist leader, a trained spymaster and strategist who understands that war is a continuation of politics by other means (Clausewitz). Accordingly, if we want to grasp Putin’s motives we should refrain from trying to assess Russia’s military campaign in terms of ‘strict military objectives.’ We should instead look at the military campaign as a political instrument that is set to mobilize a global and regional geopolitical shift and on a mammoth scale. It is clear that Putin’s army is doing its best to avoid civilian casualties. It uses siege tactics as opposed to the barbarian American ‘Shock and Awe’ doctrine. Furthermore, the Russian military works hard not to dismantle the Ukrainian military. Instead it encircles cities and is cutting out the Ukrainian army in the East and South of the country. The Russian military has dismantled Ukraine’s ability to regroup, let alone counter attack. W

Former Zelenskyy Spokesperson Said It Would Be A ‘Tragedy’ If Harris Became President In Deleted

Screenshot / Twitter / Benny Johnson   Former Zelenskyy Spokesperson Said It Would Be A ‘Tragedy’ If Harris Became President In Deleted  A former spokesperson for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said it would be a “tragedy” if Vice President Kamala Harris were to win the presidency in reaction to a video of Harris speaking at a press conference. “It would be a tragedy if this woman won the presidency,” Iuliia Mendel said on Thursday in a since-deleted tweet. The tweet was posted alongside a video of Harris with Polish President Andrzej Duda. Harris was asked whether the U.S. would accept fleeing Ukrainians amid concerns the refugee systems in place in Poland cannot sustain the number of people entering the country. The reporter then asked Duda separately whether he asked the U.S. to accept more refugees. “Okay,” Harris said, proceeding to laugh. “A friend in need and is a friend indeed,” she said, laughing more and letting Duda speak first. Mendel worked as Zelenskyy‘s press se

- Russia Sanctions Blowback Only Beginning: Globalization in the Crosshairs, Russian Retaliation Coming? Yves Smith

Russia Sanctions Blowback Only Beginning: Globalization in the Crosshairs, Russian Retaliation Coming? by aletho By Yves Smith - naked capitalism - March 10, 2022  It’s surprising that the business press has not gotten to be apocalyptic about the worst case downside of the economic war on Russia. And by that we are not including nuclear winter. Due to the fact that financial and real economy effects occur in very different time scales, we are in a phase similar to the runup to the global financial crisis, where it was clear Something Bad to Horrible was underway, yet the press and pols were largely sanguine. I gasped out loud in May 2007 when Bernanke declared that subprime was contained. The reason the blowback from the sanctions could be cataclysmic is that trying to isolate one of the biggest commodity producers in the world, with significant market share in many critical ones, will soon hit Covid-stressed supply chains. And if the economic brinksmanship isn’t dialed down soon, we

Report: Bennett & Putin Discussed Limits on Iran’s Nuclear Program By David Israel

Report: Bennett & Putin Discussed Limits on Iran’s Nuclear Program By David Israel Ukraine is not the only issue Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and President Vladimir Putin talked about in their three-hour meeting at the Kremlin on Saturday. Bennett’s main goal in the meeting was to make sure that by maintaining an almost-neutral stance on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Israel secured Russia’s continued tolerance of its attacks on Iranian-sponsored forces and activities in Syria, He achieved this goal: the coordination with Russia in Syria will continue, and the attacks attributed to Israel on missile shipments and forces that Iran is directing against Israel will continue. The other issue Bennett discussed with Putin on Saturday, according to Globes, was the emerging agreement with Iran. Israel is prepared to be disappointed by the Biden administration and especially the chief US negotiator Robert Malley, and won’t be surprised to see a repeat of the 2015 deal, if not worse –

Lavrov: US Nuclear Weapons in Europe are Unacceptable for Russia, Time to Return Them Home

Lavrov: US Nuclear Weapons in Europe are Unacceptable for Russia, Time to Return Them Home by aletho Sputnik - 01.03.2022 Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has declared that the presence of US nuclear weapons in Europe is simply unacceptable for Moscow. In the current situation, Lavrov argued, it is important to prevent a new round of the arms race, and said that Russia calls upon the United States and its allies to join a moratorium on the deployment of short- and intermediate-range missiles in Europe. "It is unacceptable for us that, contrary to the fundamental principles of the Non-Proliferation Treaty, US nuclear weapons are still present on the territory of some European countries," he said while addressing the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva via a video call. Lavrov also criticised the practice of the so called "joint nuclear missions" that involve non-nuclear NATO members, and which he said include scenarios where nuclear weapons are used against Ru

Chai Crisis Services’ Rabbi Dr. Dovid Fox: Talking to your Children About War

Unbearable beuty of parenting(1) Chai Crisis Services’ Rabbi Dr. Dovid Fox: Talking to your Children About War By Jewish Press News Desk Rabbi Dr. Dovid Fox, Director of Interventions & Community Education at Project Chai Crisis Services, has written us a bit of advice for parents who want to speak to their children about war. As news of war, invasion, evacuations, and military patrols reach the ears of ourselves and our children, it is expected that we and our young ones will have a variety of reactions. For some, there is a cataclysmic implication as we think of some of our religious traditions about where this is happening. For others, the drumbeat of war is all too familiar from history. For many of our children, who have no real precedent for making sense of such real events, there is confusion, there is disbelief, failure to comprehend possible implications for the world and the Jewish people, and for still others, there is fear which arises in different forms. While it is

China Was Content To Leak US Intel To Russia. Its Tune Has Suddenly Changed

China Was Content To Leak US Intel To Russia. Its Tune Has Suddenly Changed China is changing its tune on the Ukraine conflict after months of refusing to condemn Russian military buildup and even going so far as to leak U.S. intelligence to the Kremlin. China initially bolstered Russia’s claims ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, suggesting that the U.S. was to blame for “stirring up” conflict between Russia and Ukraine. U.S. officials met at least six times with Chinese counterparts in recent months to share intelligence about Russia’s military buildup around Ukraine and urge their government to dissuade Putin from invading. Not only did the Chinese reject these pleas, they went so far as to leak the intelligence to the Russian government. (RELATED: Russia And China Buddy Up During Ukraine Invasion) China has proven more willing to criticize Russia as Putin’s invasion has slowed, however. Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Wang Wenbin offered
